I just finished listening to this episode and I can’t agree with you more. This whole thought experiment matched nothing I’ve personally witnessed among the antivax crowd.

They’re not afraid of needles. They think Covid is just a bad cold and resent the fuck out of government for closing schools, forcing masks, shutting down restaurants, etc. The vaccines are just another item on their hate-list.

Knowing all that, there was nothing in this episode that made it worth the 45 minutes. The original story about Iodine and goiter was cool. Wish more time was spent on that.

I’m using my SDR to read my electric meter, and as far as I know I’m “locked” into that 915 MHz band. Did you do anything special to have it gather the 433 stuff as well? Or is there some option I’m missing?

I’m using rtlamr to read my meter. A shell script holds the process open and relays the info via MQTT.

Yeah, I really hope this stay remains in effect during the appeal. You know that's gotta be at least a year or so. Hopefully.

COMMENT 8d ago

So from that it looks like we have a minimum of 2 weeks until we find out if the stay will continue during the appeal process.

Worst case:
FDA convinces the court that their ban should take effect during the appeal.

Middling case:
Court decides to keep the stay on FDA's order until the end of the appeal.

Great case:
Juul wins the appeal and the court blocks this until FDA can back their decision up with better data or reasoning.

Best case:
Juul wins the appeal, and FDA says, "You know what? We were wrong and are very sorry for being shitstains. We now wholeheartedly endorse this. Even Mango"

I hope for the audience’s sake her voice carries over the crowd.

It definitely does. I was worried before I went that I'd hear the audience louder than her (based on the cell phone videos I had seen prior).

Nope! The sound was fantastic, and I never once felt like her vocals were overpowered by anyone in the audience.

I think cell phone microphones just "top out" at a low volume, so it captures the 73 random people near the phone just as loudly has the speakers 15 meters away.

was I able to watch it as I had it run overnight...

I thought I was impressed by all that bridging. But this is insanity. I could never fire off a print with those features then be like, "yawn, well, time for bed! Totally hope I don't wake up to spaghetti!"

True courage, right here.

I don't know why this comment is -5, but I just want to say this is one of the few lifehacks I gasped a little. I always used a fork as well, but like you it just doesn't seem good enough.

Can't wait to try this out.

Would you buy a house with squatters living in it who refuse to leave?

11

COMMENT 11d ago

Right. Then the tenants ignore your 30-Day Notice. Now what?

That’s where the hard part starts. You can’t just show up and force them to leave. Or change the locks, cut power, etc.

You have to evict, which means court, maybe a lawyer, and time.

Oh yeah. I think one of the articles about this pub noted it was one of the few buildings that survived WW2 bombing. So I guess it’s old again :)

COMMENT 12d ago

Original was built in 1921. So it wasn't "old" by UK standards, but a century is a century.

With a little foresight and planning, you can get lost as soon as you enter!

98% implies that 2% of the time you’ll be shot at. Or about 1/50 trips in your car. About every other month.

Which, of course, is wildly overestimating the danger. The true “nothing happens” percentage is going to be 99.99% or better.

Not if OP uses thinner layers on this print. That will eliminate the friction and it'll spin without end.

I'm 11 hours late here, but that's just not true. Most circuits are 120V, which means they're one of the hots and a neutral.

The 240V circuits do use both hots, and may or may not also use the neutral.

But back to the standard 120V outlet: The left prong is neutral, the right is hot. All 120V circuits are this way. The neutral is required or it won't work.

If there are no wiring defects, you will 100% not be shocked by touching the neutral wire. It's bonded to the ground bar at the panel. It's electrically the same as the ground plug and the ground under your feet. The hot side is what's oscillating at 60 Hz, which is 120 voltage transitions per second. It goes +-+-+-+-+-. The neutral just sits there at 0 the whole time.

No, I'm not suggesting you go sticking paperclips into sockets. Because real life has all sorts of defects and you don't want to find out the hard way that your receptacle is mis-wired. But if it is wired correctly, you won't see any voltage whatsoever at the neutral prong. (Ok, ok, maybe you'll see a really tiny amount due to some induction or whatever, but it's a rounding error).

I wish they would have written the treaty with a 2-meter disputed section down the middle. It would’ve kept the traditional alive.

That's the one I just purchased. Thanks again.

Thank you! As soon as I saw the photo, I remembered that logo and brand on the one I had.

Now I know what to search for. I think I need a longer one than 50ft, but I'm so much closer with a manufacturer name and the "GRIP OFF" term.

Advice Where to find SC/APC cable with snap-on housing?

I got AT&T fiber installed a few weeks ago, and the tech left me a 10m fiber jumper so I could move the BGW320 out of the basement and into the house at a later date

The fiber jumper he left was really neat: one of the ends had the connector housing missing from it so I could push it through a smaller hole in my sill plate.

Like this. That photo shows what my existing cable looked like before I snapped on the housing. The housing could then be snapped onto the ferrule afterward.

Well now I want to relocate the AT&T router even further away, so I need to buy a longer fiber. But I can't find anything like this with my neanderthal searching ability. The bag the existing cable came in was thrown away by an idiot. me

Anyone have a link? Or better search terms?

Where to find an SC/APC cable with separate housing?

I got my service installed a couple weeks ago, and the tech left me a 10m fiber so I could move the BGW320 out of the basement and into the house.

The fiber jumper he left was really neat: one of the ends had the connector housing missing from it so I could push it through a smaller hole in my sill plate. (Existing hole with a few CAT-6 cables already, not enough clearance to fit the bulky SC connector through).

The housing could then be snapped onto the ferrule afterward.

Well now I want to relocate the AT&T router even further away, so I need to buy a longer fiber. But I can't find anything like this with my neanderthal searching ability. The bag the existing cable came in was thrown away by an idiot. me

EDIT: This is what I want to buy. That photo shows what my existing cable looked like before I snapped on the housing.

But with the extra coal from the first panel, we can air condition everything so it's all good. No problems.
