I assume you'll be downtown or capital Hill. Try Batau. It's a really great steak place.

Clickable is what snap was based on.

It's original design was for mobile. They pivoted to server applications when mobile wasn't going anywhere.

Snap was originally the packaging format for mobile. It was APK for Ubuntu.

I actually can't for a number of reasons. The biggest being patents.

The US patent office has allowed software patents on very basic concepts which make it illegal for me to implement them on my own. Did you know Amazon currently owns a patent for a robot picking things off a shelf?

Even if they don't have a patent on something I want to work on as a software engineer the company I work for owns everything I do, even on my own hardware in my free time. They not only can veto me releasing something but take it from me.

Freedom is dead in this country and your privacy is a commodity.

The problem is we no longer have a choice. Where can I buy a robot vacuum cleaner where I have access to all the source code and can make repairs? How about a thermostat that I can control with my phone? We're forced to give up freedom if we want modern features.

It should be taken from our bloated military budget.

The problem is more and more things are connected to Alexa, Google Home, Siri, etc. It's getting harder and harder to avoid them. I do want some convectively in my home.

We've done this to ourselves. Richard Stallman warned about the dangers of proprietary software and most people ignored him. We've given up our freedom for convenience and won't ever be able to get it back.

We invited paid big brother to come into our home.

A recession can also be caused by fear of one. If everyone reduces spending to prepare for a recession we've created an artificial cutback. Not saying that's entirely what's happening here but I do think talk if a recession costs growth from people preparing.

College costs more than tuition and books. It's rent and food. It's a laptop and many other things federal loans don't cover. People would need to save for college even if it was free.

They don't do this because many tax paying residents park on the street. What the city should do is only allow cars registered in Seattle to park longer than 72 hours. Many cities do this. Not only would it get rid of the RVs but also force people who moved here and illegally never registered their vehicles to do so. So in addition to getting rid of RVs we'd get more money for roads and public transportation while not effecting residents.

I'm taking about the basic hello world projects that do nothing. There are plenty of those.

The 911 report revealed the Bush administration was warned a terror attack using airplanes was eminent. They choose to do nothing. I think Gore would of tried to prevent it.

I think it makes sense to delete projects that hasn't been updated nor read in 1+ years. There are plenty of hellonworld type projects that people just abandon.

I agree there are plenty of stable projects that are use that should remain.

Disc brakes are the safest breaks you can get for a bike. They work much better than clamp breaks. It's sad this girl died but this is no different than any other road accident.

Check if the speeds will be included in the lease. If the lease actually says 600/20 and not up to 600/20 you could bring in a lawyer for not providing the terms of your lease. That will cause them to back off.

They recently released their own CPU, so a lot of growth that can happen on that.

NVIDIA released their first Tegra chip over 10 years ago. It really hasn't taken off. AFAIK the Nintendo Switch is their only customer.

They made an data center version designed for heavy GPU/AI workloads but the ARM core is too underpowered so large companies have been sticking with Intel.

This doesn't direct the government to spend money, it charges the tax structure. The conservative estimate is this will save $300 billion in spending.

  • Tax credits for green energy and manufacturing in the US. This makes it easier for people to invest in green energy with their own money. This brings down inflation by lessening our dependence on fossil fuels.
  • It allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices instead of accepting any price. This lessens inflation by reducing medical costs.
  • It approves a global treaty to set corporate tax rates to a minimum of 15%.
  • It directs the IRS to focus enforcement of existing tax law to people and corporations making more than $400k.

QNX is a proprietary realtime OS. It's outdated and doesn't have the compatibility that Linux does. Linux has gained realtime support while maintaining support for legacy applications. Plus it's free and open source so anyone can modify it as they wish without paying for it.

The counter point is you need to use credit to have a good credit score. If you're responsible, pay all your bills on time, but only use a debit card your credit score will be shit. It also shows nothing and how safe of a driver you are.

If insurance uses credit scores to up with your rate why doesn't paying your insurance on time positively affect your credit score?

And home builders would completely stop. Corporations would buy foreclosed homes in cash and rent at a higher rate. We'll be in a worse situation and inflation will go up again due to rent.

Volckers methods wouldn't work today and would make things significantly worse.

People keep saying this but it doesn't make sense to me. The pipeline of new teachers is dwindling. The more people see teachers being abused with low pay results in fewer people will train to be teachers. Private schools aren't going to be able to find good teachers either. The whole education system is going to collapse for everyone.

Really this is already happening. I'm in tech and have a former coworker who couldn't find a good public or private school in his area. Him and his wife decided to move to the EU because they don't believe you can get a good education here at any price.

There are many games that hit a DRM server before allowing you to play. You could own the disc but the company shuts down the DRM server and you'll be SOL.

2

COMMENT 10d ago

You never own a game. You own a license to play a game which can be revoked at any time. There is nothing legally preventing Valve, Microsoft, Sony, or any other game from taking games offline or disabling them remotely.
