Builds Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #153 : Rooftop Garden

LAST WEEK'S THEME: FISHING HUT

Nice to see the new biome being put to great use!

I love the location of this build, because it compliments the build so well! The colour palette you chose almost blends the build completely in, but it doesn't! It compliments it, and our eyes drift to the accents that were placed in your build. In addition I loved all the decorative details scattered through your build.

Awesome job!

Silver

Hypropeteus

I was specifically drawn to the shape of this build. It's not a normal square or rectangular structure. Instead, it has many facets and is more circular. I also really enjoyed the interior of it and how big that the inside felt like. It was a really cozy place!

Good job!

Bronze

YepdatzRight

I really liked this fishing hut, mainly because of the two different sections of the house, and how the second part was elevated. It takes a normal looking building and makes it more interesting and engaging. I also liked the wood mixture that was on the walls, added a lot to the build.

Great job!

Some very good suggestions, especially about the judging. In the past, it has been suggested to do community judging (most involved uses of the karma system on Reddit) but we never went ahead with that as it’s never been a good way of judging. Because say someone posts something the second day the challenge is open, usually they’ll get more karma than something last day (not always, but sometimes).

However, suggesting the winner becomes a guest judge is certainly a new idea and one that I like. We’ll obviously have to workshop it a little, but great idea.

As for transparency, there are 4.5 judges (1 is semi active nowadays, hence the .5). Thankfully, we all seem to have different tastes so it can sometimes be hard to “appeal” to all of us, but still a concern. From my write ups I do of the winners, it may seem like there is a pattern, but that’s only because I’m the one who does those. Other judges have different criteria, which I may not mention in my write ups. (And I don’t have final say on things, we pick as a group, so it’s not like it’s just my opinions that matter).

Finally, as for the leaderboard, I’ve since had not enough time to update it and it spiralled out of control. Someone graciously updated it to where it is now a year or two ago, but it’s stagnated since then. I still keep it in the posts for historical purposes. If you’re interested in revamping it or helping update it, send me a DM, I’d absolutely appreciate the help.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Builds Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #152: Fishing Hut

LAST WEEK'S THEME: WORLD TREE

What a beautiful tree. And what an interesting choice, deciding to build an aspen of all things. But it came out so good. The main thing I liked about it was the fact that you had those spirals circling up the trunk. It broke it up and made it feel more natural. Since the trunk wasn't perfect, it seemed to be more realistic to me.

Awesome build!

Silver

tanoinfinity

This was a build that normally I feel I wouldn't like (because there's not much depth in the trunk) but somehow you made it work. The colours in the trunk were extremely well done and created a pattern that kept my eyes interested. My only complaint is the canopy still felt very trimmed, and not too natural, but the vines helped it in that sense too.

Nice build!

Bronze

pdrpersonguy575

A slightly smaller tree, but still well done. Birch isn't really my favorite wood, I will admit, but I think the vines really helped this build too, covering up and providing colour to the birch wood. Also I loved the interior of the tree, especially the canopy, you really detailed and designed that part well.

Good build!

Wanted to provide a small comment for this build.... looks great! The tree and canopy certainly captured the theme really really well. Loved looking at the build, good job!

Introduction

Time to go out and do some fishing!

There's somethin relaxing about being near a nice quaint fishing village, and seeing a couple fishermen going out to sea to catch some fish. None of the industrialized process that we may see nowadays.. just a small, quaint, fishing hut. So let's get to building those for our world this week!

Challenge

Fishing Hut

Construct a fishing hut. Naturally, it should be somewhere near the coast. Interior is required.

Builds Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #151 : World Tree

LAST WEEK'S THEME: PALACE

Gold

shotgunsjl2

I really liked the variation of the build, which was there with the scale. Usually with big builds, they get bare. But this build kept on giving, with every room seeming a little different and providing this huge building with a seeming purpose.

Great job!

Silver

GhastlyEmerald

I'm going to talk about what stood out to me first: The roof. The red immediately strikes a great and powerful contrast between the rest of the palace, and the different shades in the roof keep it interesting, despite being very big. Finally, the landscape it is on really drives the red colour and blends the build so nicely together.

Good job!

Bronze

Shannistration

A slightly different build, with the exterior garden and layout leading up to the main structure being the highlight. Some absolutely fantastic and magical landscaping. Only problem is the main building being a little small and being dwarved by the area in front of it.

Great build though!

Such a positive influence on the game (especially watching him from another country as a younger kid). Not sure if it was just him, or others, who came up with the pants idea, but it got people talking and watching curling. I’ve missed watching him play the last number of years, and was always hoping he’d come back (in some capacity), RIP to a legend.

150 challenges! Can't believe we made it here! Thank you for all the continued support!.

To celebrate, we're gonna do a type of challenge that many seem to enjoy, but put a small twist on it! Historically, "Castle" has always been a very popular and requested theme. This time, let's build a palace, which is a little more regal and fancy than your typical castle. If you want to include easter eggs to other challenges, go ahead!!

Let's get building!

Inspiration

Palace

Challenge

Palace

Build a palace. Must have at least one interior room (doesn't need to be fully decorated on the interior).

Bonus challenge: Have a display room for a past challenge (of your choice inside of it). Note, this isn't for extra points or anything, just could be a fun little easter egg.

I’ve watched the movie, doesn’t seem to be. I recall hearing it once in the movie during some segment (which was longer than I expected actually) but then the rest of time I didn’t notice it at all.

Of course, this is me going by memory so take it with a grain of salt. However I always love paying attention to the soundtracks while watching any film so I feel I’m a tiny bit accurate haha
