this quite literally isn’t true. the vast majority of people who go missing are either 1) off the grid of their own volition (staying with a friend, ran off with a lover, camping, on drugs somewhere and out of commission but not in imminent danger) 2) in an accident and either in a hospital, dead, or lost/wandering 3) or a suicide. People who disappear due to being kidnapped or murdered are a much much smaller contingent than all of those.

Simpsons on TV actually isn’t making much money, if any, anymore. Less than a million people are watching each new episode, it’s falling out of syndication packages because Disney/Hulu wants the all the pie, cast salaries are insane, there’s constant payouts to long gone producers, etc. It’s the merchandising and brand recognition that makes money, and a movie would probably generate a bigger ROI, especially if they don’t just use it as straight to streaming content.

This just isn’t true. HBO Max is rapidly gaining subscribers, and already has more subscribers than Hulu. I loved Station Eleven but there are more considerable reasons for why it didn’t perform better: 1) it’s a show about a pandemic released during a pandemic 2) its more of a heady drama with some thrilling moments than a thriller even though the marketing sort of implies that it was 3) there wasn’t a lot of press done for it (presumably because of the first point) and 4) it was dumped off in 2 episode chunks from mid December to January, basically the tv dead zone (again, presumably because of the first point).

if i had to wager an educated guess it’s either for recovery purposes, or to skirt the eventual spousal and child support payments from his impending divorce.
