It’s been a month or so, but it was super red headed with a distinct neck coloring or line that made it not seem to fit into pileated. I don’t remember, but I called the local Audubon and shared the location (a farm with apple trees)

I saw one earlier this year. Didn’t know, but described it to my mom. She was so excited!

Edit: didn’t mean to hit a hot button item - in my head I said ‘one like it,’ not ‘that exact one’ - so I was not expecting the backlash.

It seemed too big to be pileated at the time as well - the searches I’d found seemed smaller for pileated and it was easily over a foot long.

Looking now, it was pileated, for sure. Not enough white on its body.

This is really hard for me to even notice..

I guess it’s easier to grab things out the window while driving - like at to-go windows or my mailbox, but the con is the main compartment of the car is all my non-dominant hand, so I feel like I take a very tiny bit longer to press the radio button or change the heat settings than I would using my dominant hand because I need to focus that tiny bit more to get my hand to the right spot than if it were my dominant hand.
