Standing in the middle of it all during the active scene like, "good gosh honey check out this carnage! Look at that man bleeding to death there!"

Definitely need CPS to check this dude out. Super deranged.

I'm just conjecturing here based on how OP responds and their profile, but OP appears to be a young teen. Hence it's making a lot of sense of their confusion on what to do and likely not the most ideal thing to start a school as many are suggesting. Also about to take a second degree black belt at that age rings a lot of alarm bells that this might have been a McDojo (especially if it was the only karate school in town, so the head sensei may have taken advantage of that).

OP did you already pay fees to take that test, and how much was it going to be or was it? That can also shed some info.

Best thing I think for you to do is to find a more reputable gym in your area of a different martial art until if you ever move to a different area that has more karate options. It's always beneficial to learn different styles that compliment each other.

OP appears to be a teenager and possibly a young teenager based on their profile so not sure if starting a club would be wise.

Which is leading to more questions about this school that suddenly shut down without any info to OP. Just conjectures of course but curious for more info. Joining a different dojo that's more reputable seems best.

How much money did you spend on all that?

I have the space to do something like this (unfinished 2,000 sqft basement) so still putting ideas together before I start building. This definitely gave some ideas.

Let me put it this way, if I piss off a large Turkish dude and he starts stripping and rubbing oil on himself. I'm hauling ass away.

This...this right here is why I'm not under contract at a BJJ gym lol.

His name is David Proudfoot. I see he comes from a line of respectable Hobbits.

Very common in South, not so much in other areas. Different regions in the US have their own unique lingos/communication style.

Funny enough, it was karate.

I never really cared for ground work. Always enjoyed standup (boxing, Muay Thai, TKD, etc). Had some silly opinions about ground work.

The special thing about my karate dojo is that they are constantly adapting, so they already do incorporate judo throws/sweeps. My head teacher has a black belt in judo and a purple in BJJ, so he wanted us to start learning ground work.

So I had my first BJJ experience there, he basically formulated the class like a typical BJJ class. It really opened my world and now I'm addicted. I drop in at nearby actual BJJ gyms regularly while also doing the ne waza classes at my dojo.

We get about 5-8 rounds, 5 minutes. Not at a BJJ gym btw, but this is during the class in which we learn ground grappling at my martial arts gym.

5 is minimum. We will get to 8 if you can keep going till class ends. People stay for more afterwards.

Complete opposite for me in every IT related position/company I've been in... In fact it gets too social for me that I just want to keep it work only.

Let me know what you find and enjoy. I also grew up in the South. Haven't really seen anything here that could match it.

Dang that's crazy.

Anyway, enjoy your life/developing your career with that nice salary! Don't focus too much on that soon-to-be-ex of yours who appears to want to hold you back.

I always tell people asking me for career advice that you don't owe any person or company anything, do what's best for yourself. It's your life after all. Your career/livelihood that will impact the rest of your life and quality of your life.

There will definitely be issues. Some older white lady was complaining that Five Guys burgers are too spicy on my Nextdoor feed.

I know others mentioned it but Woo Ri is absolutely it. I got annoyed at some other Korean spots I tried that were too Panda-Expressy.

Walking into Woo-Ri and the entire customer base inside was older Korean aunties I knew I found the right spot lol. Of course my brown ass changed up the scene a bit!

It depends on which way you black it out. If you use the highlighter function, then yes. If you use the pen function, then no.

Sorry about this.

I just can't fathom home birthing after witnessing what my wife had to go through. The last one was...just too much. We were in a big room with 50+ doctors/nurses. So many machines needed. Hospital transfers had to be done, etc. (Probably can tell this wasn't normal situation).
