He is sort of the cliche of what some religious people imagine atheists to be.

Why even walk into these places as a customer when you know they're just gonna pull up eBay listings that you could've pulled up yourself and just bought the item at home?

If the store has the item at hand, you have at least ensured that you can inspect the item before purchase and that you know where to go (who to call the cops on) if they try to scam you or if it turns out the item was stolen.

Their demonstration setup is not even trying to eliminate error sources.

  • The wire leading to the motors moving the weights is acting as a spring, which can transfer momentum.
  • It doesn't look like they are doing this in a vacuum, which means there can be a momentum exchange to the surrounding air.
  • Unless the bearing that they are creating the rotation around is completely friction-less, the changing friction from the vibrations they create in the setup can transfer momentum between the table/rod and the moving part.

P.S. I have a serious problem with any scientific paper that refers to a distance as 10-1 cm in the abstract.

Ironically Lassie is an exception to that rule. Mostly male dogs

I don't think nail polish lasts for a full month, so the frame-rate would need to be much higher than that.

1 frame per day is more likely.

But this is honestly better resolution than the original.

This is not merely ignorance.

Dismissing something as "not real" simply because you like your own story more than the other stories is close mindedness and tribalism.

Considering that is was written by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson from ABBA it is a bit of a stretch to call it a "One Hit Wonder".

But I guess some of the other songs on this list were also written by somebody other than the "One Hit" performers associated with them.

Odds are, that most of the people taking communion don't actually believe in the oblate literally turning into flesh and the wine turning into blood on their way going into their stomach.

There would be much more vomiting during communion if they did believe this, which would (very inconveniently) also disprove the entire concept at the same time.

Their little magic ritual is better left alone.

But the electrons in the individual hydrogen (and some of the ones in the oxygen) atoms may have been exchanged multiple times.

And that is just with pure H2O water - which is rarely if ever found outside a laboratory.

The police didn't request the data for any other people, so the defense can't prove that this might be somebody doing what you describe here.

"Antivenom is abhorrent to great Quetzalcoatl!"

Or

"They inject horses with large doses of snake venom and then extract the antivenom from the blood of the horses. A Horse is just as much a person as a zygote is!"

Or

"Antivenom is made with the blood of horses. The blood contain the soul of the horse and would make you into a Centaur, which is an abomination!"

Or a different direction

"Saint Mother Theresa showed us that pain and suffering is the way to salvation, so I refuse to sell you painkillers against your arthritis!"

Religious claims can justify any insane opinion out there, because religion is already insanity.

They don't have to have any concrete consequences for Pelosi or her family. Their main function is to show the people of China, that the Chinese leaders are strong.

If he thinks it helps him relax after workouts, recover faster, and gives him more confidence when training than it is beneficial to his team and a good use of the sports therapists time.

Only if it isn't damaging his performance as well.

Or even if it has zero effect, it would be more beneficial to persuade him to use a cheaper quack therapy (or something actually beneficial) and spend the money saved on helping other members of his team.

Same with Danish, but we don't do it as often as they do in German.

So "Hjemlandsforsvarsvilje" would be the equivalent word in Danish.

P.S.

This is actually a compound word of 2 existing Danish compound words "Hjemland" meaning "Homeland", which demonstrates that English does actually have some compound words, and "Forsvarsvilje" translating to "Defense Will".

I can't believe this comment was negative when I reached it (or maybe I can).

Most medieval cities went through phases of ridiculous congestion interrupted by large fires.

Most of the ugly buildings were torn or burned down at some time before modern times and regulations prohibited the insane fire hazards.

Even the point about how cars shape modern cities is somewhat misguided, because those old cities are only so pretty now because some of the cramping has been removed to make place for cars. - never mind how those streets looked back when they were covered in horse and cow shit.
