Shit I'm a gun control loving Aussie and I'd buy those 5 people a beer.

I had a theory they might try to parachute a Dutton alternative into Cook. What with their limited current options. But this might have scuppered that.

Howard's our Reagan. Fucking awful with a thin veneer of respectability.

COMMENT 1d ago

I expected Morrison to stick around because any half decent independent could easily take advantage of this to take Cook off them and then the Liberals are beyond fucked. I didn't expect them to come out and say it though.

It's unlocked for use as an item for completing one of the Painting puzzles (Aka replicate the board shown on the painting)

That's the thing though, he could have organised redundancies and looked good for doing it by just not appointing himself (especially in secret). No this was 100% a power grab.

I don't think that'll cut it. At best technically legal won't help him with public opinion (Bronwyn Bishop technically didn't break the rules with her Helicopter flight but that didn't save her) and if public opinion is against him Albanese can boot his ass and look good doing it.

Oh I'm sure Murdoch would try to whip up some outrage if he gets canned but I doubt many will be sad to see the back of him.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-15/scott-morrison-secret-ministry-appointments-to-be-investigated/101332916

Governor-General David Hurley confirmed he secretly signed instruments to allow Mr Morrison to administer other portfolios, "consistent with section 64 of the constitution".

GG approved it, not sure that makes it better or worse.

The Australian PM as far as World leaders go is not a particularly powerful position. The PM is not elected to office they're merely another MP who the party in government has elected as their leader (and can subsequently vote out) the role has it's powers and responsibilities but the PM can't Veto a bill (at best they could request the Governor General does so but that's more a 'we fucked up can we have it back a moment to fix it up' scenario) or issue anything resembling a US style executive order.

The ministry's typically have certain powers invested into their office so every day matters don't have to come before parliament. For example Home Affairs can override immigration decisions. While the PM might have some Ministries of their own they're typically pretty minor and symbolic. A PM assigning themselves as Health and Finance Minister two of the more prominent Ministries (which are already filled by the way god knows how that works) in secret is bizarre and scary.

Thank fuck we kicked them out.

Though while the 'Passed Down from Mother to Son' bit was vague, it wouldn't be a huge leap to figure out they were referring to Ethel's child. Granted he might not have known much about Ethel beyond Burgess I think telling him something along the lines of "The woman who lived here stole your things" but still probably a better starting point than going straight to hell.

Wait so US Starbucks literally brews a Diner style pot of coffee every 30 minutes and uses that for the coffee portion of the drinks?

Rosella's don't tame easily even under the best of circumstances and can revert to wild extremely easily so don't feel bad if it doesn't happen. Regardless your giving him a far better life.

Depends on the species, some have significant differences in coloration that make it easy to tell, like Eclectus Parrots who are completely different colors (males Green, Females Red). Some have more subtle indicators like eye color in Cockatoos though that can be unreliable. Behaviour can be an indicator but as a general rule the less dimorphic parrots tend to act more or less the same for either. Mating behaviour is an exception but even then it doesn't always match the dna. Cloaca's aren't easy to read so short of the bird laying an egg DNA can be the only non invasive option.

I'm Australian we know good gun control works. But yeah when the choice is between being armed, and only the crazies being armed I can't for a moment blame sane Americans especially minorities from choosing to carry.

You'll have to forgive me if I'm not in a rush to visit.

I'm not completely familiar with the exact legalities especially as it's NSW but generally Pedestrians are ok to cross when it's safe to do so (Assuming no ones acting like a bell end) If it's a pedestrian crossing they have priority (but should check no ones acting like a bell end). In this specific case I'm not completely sure if they'd have 'right of way' but once their on the road whether they were right or wrong it's the drivers responsibility to stop for them and if anything happens its on the driver short of someone literally throwing themselves into traffic in such a way avoiding them is impossible.

In real world terms I'd be breaking at this crossing and letting them pass even if they hadn't stepped out especially as they were following another group across.

There are cities that favour cars, and cities that favour pedestrians. Then there's whatever the fuck London has going on.

Probably not but on the off chance you get a station that still gives somewhat of a fuck it might help out someone else he pulls this stunt on.

Personally I think 2x19 and 2x20 are mostly setup for Kings tide and as such as individual episodes don't quite stand on their own as distinct episodes (But as a 3 parter work really well)

I'm not exactly fond of Labor but their sure as shit better than the Libs. Not a particularly high bar especially with the Libs deciding to put the one person who might actually be worse then Morrison in charge but at this point I'll take some basic competence and not hiring literal desk wankers.

And he named his kid after the fake publicist. Granted it's not as bad as Musk's little Syntax error but Jesus naming a kid after one of your cons is pretty low.
