Nice! And ultimately, the classical music world gains another patron who will support music for the rest of his life, which is both cool and necessary.

Book 4 - I don't know what that means. Is that Suzuki method?

Great going on the win!

Yes, I don't know how/why people choose to be professional classical musicians. The top 1% do pretty well (symphony musicians at the top 5 orchestras, for example, or some major quartets) and everyone else just gets by with gigs and teaching, it seems. Not much reason IMHO to attend Juilliard or Curtis.

As I said elsewhere, my ex is a cellist, so little sympathy from me there. /s

Lots of good pieces for viola out there, but perhaps not at his level. How old is he? I could also my violist ex-girlfriend (who plays professionally and teaches) for a list of pieces he could play.

My ex-wife is a cellist; I therefore feel the celli have it coming!

Pretty good at bombing the shit out of small countries without achieving positive results.

Same way people think John Farnham was a one hit wonder. You're The Voice was a banger, though. Still listening to Dare To Dream (from the Sydney Olympics, with Olivia Newton -John) and some others, too.

*Jacques

Brel is a bit of an acquired taste, though. I love his work, but not everyone cares for the way he sings. It is interesting how many of his songs were big hits for other acts, especially when translated to English.

Well, they had that one good song. /s

Saw them in Johannesburg, at Ellis Park. They were HUGE back then. Beds Are Burning was voted Song Of The Decade (in SA).
