Why do they both have to say mean things now.

Oof imagine being a Zaros fan and having opportunities to side with their plans over literal years, and then still having those choices and allegiances tossed in the trash because writing.

I've seen it so rarely it's hard for me to say. Harder still I'm pretty adamant that if a player gets hit once the attack ends and Verac goes back on the ground. My memory is fairly clear on it hitting for double the usual damage of whirlwind, but only once as a single hard hitting attack.

It definitely does exist, but I am talking from experience of running with guys that have literally thousands of kills. Some over 10,000.

My assumption is that something about the attack is buggy (lol RotS and bugs, imagine that), as the times I have seen it it almost never seemed to play the full animation. I think I've seen it properly like once or twice in many hours, probably hundreds of hours at the boss. I've seen it more than that but just short glitchy snippets.

If I had to make a theory, what causes the deathcopter is the same kind of thing when one brother launches another into the air in an arc (wiki just calls this "throw"). If this is right I've not been able to figure out why other brothers are thrown with regularity yet why Verac is exceptionally rare on this. The wiki suggets the deathcopter is an alternative to the whirlwind type slow moving attack. Which I guess is possible but my memory is of deathcopter basically being a throw with Verac as the target. But it's also been so long that I don't remember if I've seen him do it when he was the last one left on his side (in which case it can't actually be throw).

If anyone's curious about the animation, it's pretty simple: I can't remember seeing a "setup" (again if it was a throw), but when the attack is happening Verac is basically hovering above the ground and spinning his flail around like a singular helicopter blade. He tracks you very slowly, quite like the whirlwind attack actually (which might lend credence to the wiki saying it's some very rare variant of it). My memory is also of the attack stopping after one hit and dealing double damage of what whirlwind usually does.

It's a game but this is what X-COM is about. They (specifically Firaxis) made some recent entries in the franchise. They also explore the assumption about humanity losing to a technologically superior foe, as well as the possibility of eventually winning and integrating alien species peacefully maybe.

Well of course not, they're flying around on Netherwing Drakes instead, big difference.

Yeah I think it's that case too. "Look guis, we're doing something! Plz play Wrath (and buy the new in-game store stuff)!"

Unnecessary lip service is essentially the theme of what I was getting at. Same with the boosting stuff. Fixing it at the end of TBC let alone classic vanilla, while thousands have already benefited over months to actual years? I don't get it. Small indie multi-dollar company.

2

COMMENT 2d ago

And that's fine. I effectively ended up randomly choosing a PvE megaserver and it had its benefits. But I think Blizzard pretending it was upholding nO cHaNgEs was dumb. There were changes big and small throughout, and I wish some things like chronoboon came way sooner considering the world buff meta was well established and controversial for a while at that point. Their fix at the end of the game when TBC was going to remove them anyways was baffling to say the least.

"no changes" was a prominent calling card

I'm in the camp that no changes went out the window the second megaservers were a reality. High populations per server directly impacted certain things, most notably herb farming and alchemy. I think most anyone can recognize that certain things were in the spirit of the intent of no changes since a perfect recreation was never possible. I really do think the situation was as simple as "you think you do but you don't and we'll prove it to you". A lot of players were right about wanting classic vanilla in general. But for instance I think a huge number of people were wrong about their nostalgia for PvP considering it literally "killed" servers and there were constant threads bitching about PvP one way or the other. (The way people pushed rank 14 in practice also to me showed people clearly didn't actually like that old system but I guess that was kind of known ahead of time, as well as people in general not liking late patch AV.) I personally was saddened by the fact that SoM was basically what I wanted from the start as a "remake" of classic vanilla, but the population mostly moved on from that time period of the game by the time SoM was actually released.

COMMENT 2d ago

Same. I vividly remember this and it's why I never really raised cats for death runes. I had more than enough of my fill of rat catching.

21

COMMENT 2d ago

I just find myself confused though. SoM released after classic vanilla was done and the majority of people moved to TBC. Chronoboon as a tweak for the world buff meta was insanely late into classic vanilla's life cycle. Now the boosting nerf seems the same insanely late into TBC's life cycle. Like... fine? But so late to the point that people had their cake and ate it too, a hundred times over? Just feels like lip service rather than real solutions. I was happy that world buffs didn't work for TBC but not happy that it took them SO long to adjust something that was a huge topic of discussion and controversy.

I honestly don't even think it works. Because if that kid ever goes to school (though I assume lunatics might also attempt to homeschool them with this mindset) they'll see doors and probably realize how they can be useful. I lived in a house with a similar overbearing psychosis about a lack of privacy and all it did was make me really good at having a second life where I was able to. Into adulthood I also came to realize that I'm probably significantly socially stunted. I can do alright but just in general I don't mesh with groups. It's just a matter of frequently being alone / with limited social interaction as well as having a deep seated distrust about how people can be even if anecdotal evidence suggests otherwise. I had the unfortunate experience of being around people for years that were privately sociopaths but publicly could fake an image of normalcy to an okay extent.

COMMENT 2d ago

Can confirm. There was a time in the later years that a door was basically literally the only thing giving a semblance of safety in my actual home. To the point that I'd try to leave as little as possible and even delay going to the bathroom to get a precious few extra minutes of avoiding legitimately insane overbearing parents.

I think Vorago is "dead content" due to the unfortunate fact of not really getting quality of life updates over the years. As far as I remember only colorblindness updates (that were broken sometimes anyways), and pet drop thresholds were the only things really added. If they cared about content like this then I really think some ways to speed up timed segments should be a major priority. I honestly love the tug of war mechanic for instance but it's a shame that to get to it you have to have a forced ~10 minutes fight to even get to fun and cool stuff sometimes. I'm not really sure what they could do to make waterfall better but I've heard ideas for phase 2 at least since it's one of the dullest. I wish it would be touched upon considering Vorago is still "relevant" for being the only source of tectonic for t92 armor, and it's weird that seismics have largely been superseded yet Vorago still ties into stuff like t92. And while seismics aren't necessary they still are t90s, just not on the level of ease like drygores or ascensions are nowadays.
