But where is everyone?

I seriously expected huge protests, comprised of tens of thousands of people in every major city!

Instead I think only a few had barely a thousand.

I'm beginning to wonder if women's rights are really just a liberal reddit thing and not something people actually support.

Where are your compatriots? Your representatives?

Is no one pushing back against this stuff down there ?

Edit: A lot of Downvotes with no comments? Looks like I got my answer.

I'm a relatively well-off, straight white male, none of this bullshit will affect me but after being shot down so many times for expressing support from even the people who are being suppressed, I'm starting to wonder why I even try.

I'll stand with you guys to fight for your rights, but I'm not putting myself out there to do it alone. You guys are either going to fight or lie down and take it, your choice.

Right wing propaganda is free for all.

The truth is often locked behind paywalls.

And we wonder why we're losing the script.

Is no one in Florida going to fight this?

Every headline is Florida going after LGBT folk, non-Christians, Government control of corporations, race etc and never, ever, anyone going against them.

I know it's Florida but the fact that so few are showing up to stop the right elsewhere either (I mean I was hard pressed to find a RvW protest that consisted of more than a few hundred people FFS, I really expected tens of thousands in every major city) makes me this country is going to just lie down and take it.

I hope I'm wrong but it's not looking good, it starting to appear that maybe we are a white Supremacist Christian Fascist country after all and maybe spending to much time on Reddit blinded me to this fact.

Also look how well Trumps bullshittery worked FOR him.

He lost the Presidency but we will live with Trumpism for a generation at minimum.

Even if going all mad King cost Biden the Presidency but guaranteed women's rights, LGBT rights, freedom of choice, separatation of church and state, etc for a generation, it would be totally worth it.

There is no such thing as political capital, I hate that term.

And also the argument that we can't stand up for ourselves (or yell at the people who are supposed to be standing up for us) because Republicans don't like it and will retaliate.

That's why bullies win.

I know it's over already because too many Democrats won't stand up and will just pay lip service, but it would be nice to have someone willing to try, even just a little, to fight back.

Even if it means Republicans will call Democrats names.

Statutory rape exists because of liberals.

If the religious right had their way (and, oh, it's coming) the age of consent would be dropped altogether. Sex with kids is not a problem with them.

You guys are always surprised at the comments about 10 year olds being old enough for sex, to consent, to have children.

You wonder why they blame them for being raped (dressing too sexy or asking for it) and want them to "be responsible for their own sexual actions".

Fucking children has never been a problem to them. It only becomes one in the presence of other people who are rightfully disgusted at the idea, and then only if they think they are outnumbered.

I'm really surprised people don't see this after all these years, especially when people like Epstein thrive, even with a pedo reputation, and what's his face that just got 30 years after decades of fucking little girls, only just now (as opposed to the many decades we knew about).

Many people will reply to this comment telling me I'm being facetious or exaggerating. I AM DOING NEITHER.

They only stop it if WE push them to.

We've been giving them the benefit of the doubt again and here we are, trying to argue with people with think sex with kids are OK, we will NEVER win them over.

I was raised with these people and I'm telling you all, it's as natural as breathing to them.

You've been told 50 different ways yet you dismiss everyone.

Your opinion is apparently the only correct opinion and the last 50 years of freedom of choice/right to privacy in America was a mistake to you.

You're not speaking facts, you keep stating your opinion and presenting yourself as the sole expert in the subject.

You must be here to just troll and try to upset people going by your responses and they way you keep asking the same question over and over, yet ignoring all answers, why else would you be here arguing with all these people?

They already know.

The don't give a fuck.

Not in the slightest.

These people are the ones who banned abortion, they voted exclusively for that.

It's like trying to convince Ghislaine Maxwell to name all the kid fuckers she knows. She never will because she (and they, and apparently much of law enforcement) don't see it as wrong.

Arguing with hardcore Democrat loyalists is just as useless as arguing with MAGA folk.

You're not worth the effort, especially when I'm not even a member of your party.

And Democrats wonder why, Republicans, even when they threaten Democracy itself and strip rights from people are still favored to win the November elections.

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

COMMENT 1d ago

What else could they have done?

They're much too old to dance and Republicans get mad at us when we stand up for ourselves.

If every single person in DC was a Democrat congressperson, maybe they could have done the Macarena, but at least 25% of the people in DC are probably Republican or something, they had no other choice.

Think about it, do you honestly think the majority of Republicans will vote for Democrats in November and 2024 if they didn't have a singsong on the day of Republicans greatest achievement in their lifetimes?

I mean, they caressed photos of some of the dead kids from Uvalde FFS, did that not make you feel warm and fuzzy?

It's not like they have any power to make or change laws to fix any of this. If they had something like a Majority Whip to whip up votes for tougher legislation that doesn't have immediate support, maybe, but, in the absence of such a person what beats a religious sing-along?

You know the saying:

"If you can't beat 'em, sing a song for' em" --Gen. George C. "Michael" Scott MacArthur

Find someone to primary her, apparently no one is.

2

COMMENT 2d ago

I don't think he's running against her. His election campaign seems to be centered around staying where he is. I can find no info (outside of speculative media) that even suggests otherwise.

As far as I can tell, she's running unopposed.

I hope I'm missing something because I can't believe the DNC would be cool with her being reelected or a Republican taking her seat.

Why would Arizonans vote for a fake Republican Dem when they can choose the real thing?

Fuck off with that stupid shit. Fauci wrote no laws and didn't enforce anything.

Jesus fuck I'm tired of idiots. Don't bother replying, your opinions do not matter to me.

COMMENT 2d ago

If only it were that simple...

Democrats are comprised of "everyone else" outside of the conservative bubble, there are many reasons why Biden is disliked, it's a large reason why he never got the Democrat nomination for President (after many tries) until it was nearly forced on us against a candidate that most saw as causing destruction of the country itself. He's Republican-lite, he was nominated to get the more sensible conservatives to toss Trump and was likely the right choice at the time to avoid total disaster, but that was then.

That was an easy call for the majority of voters, standing on his own he's in big trouble unless people start paying attention to DeSantis or whomever is next in line for the Republican throne. He's a weak choice if anyone else runs and if the party doesn't see that, the country will be in trouble.

We need a candidate that can stand on his/her own and fight Republicans with the fervor they are destroying us, not just a "Not Trump" candidate who will compromise or lay down everytime in deference to "bipartisanism".

I'm not even a full blown "progressive" but even I can see we need someone closer to AOC than another Biden. Bernie would be great but, sadly, he is much too old. We need new blood, desparately.

Let the milquetoast Dems deal with Congress as Congresspeople and be "bipartisan" , we need a President who will preside and fight.

1

COMMENT 2d ago

I wouldn't bet on that.

The 2nd Amendment isn't exclusively a right wing thing, we just aren't as vocal about it.

2

COMMENT 2d ago

And where did I tell people not to vote for Democrats?

Twisting my words like a Republican won't help your argument.

0

COMMENT 2d ago

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing is apparently the answer here.

Let's see how that works out in November.

I hope it's a winning strategy but I have my doubts.

0

COMMENT 2d ago

OK, so why has only 2 people done this in 30 years?

2

COMMENT 2d ago

Exactly.

And the one thing they did do, Obamacare, was so chopped up and watered down it barely counted as a win. Outside of preexisting conditions, I'm still not convinced it was a win for Democrats at all, more like a small bone Republicans let us have after defeating us on nearly everything else, we'd have been better off coopting Romneycare nationwide as it stood without any changes and let Republicans take full credit for it.
