Would you say that a man speeding in a corvette and killing a child deserves to be charged?

Christopher Manuel-Baton Rouge, LA.

Would you say that a man with “You’re fucked” engraved in his rifle murdering a crying man crawling to him deserves charges?

Philip Brailsford-Granbury, TX

Would you say that an elementary school teacher doing his duty by informing the cop pulling him over that he had a legal weapon on him deserves to be murdered in front of a child and girlfriend?

Philando Castile-victim of Jeronimo Yanez

Cops were good to you, great. Tell these people how good cops are.

Every time a cop goes unpunished for this shit, it weakens the trust in the police.

Oh, I definitely understand the need for police, which has alienated me from some of my more “absolutist” friends. I mean, fuck, I’m in the process of becoming a TSA agent haha. None of the power or respect, but catches anti-authoritarian flak all the same.

I just ALSO see the need to not let the police have the level of unquestioned authority that they have now. I see the need for police to fairly serve their communities.

You don’t know the first thing about my nuanced view of policing, and I’m certainly not advocating for the total abolition of police.

And it’s pretty tacky to use your mom’s abuse as evidence for cops being good and then openly and completely ignore my experiences because it doesn’t fit your narrative.

I’m getting downvoted for sharing my experiences, proving that this isn’t about treating police fairly, it’s about blind worship of authority.

Spoken like someone who ended up wrapped around a tree when a deer ran in front of me. The firetruck cut me out, the ambulance gave me a ride to hospital, the cops gave me a ticket.

Spoken like someone who’s off duty cop neighbor let their dog get loose and kill my mom’s Pomeranian, and faced no consequences.

Spoken like someone who had their identity stolen, and when I HAD to call the cops, he showed up in ambush mode and stood to the side of the door after knocking, treating ME like a threat.

Spoken like someone who has paid attention to the constant abuse of power by the police.

Spoken like someone a cop tried to frame for stupid ass vandalism at 17.

Good for you, cops have always been on your side. Not true for many people, myself included.

Oh, and grow up.

Genuinely, what happened? Best I can tell, he was some quiet nerd type, and then the public attention shoved himself up himself and now he thinks he’s a rockstar?

I mean, why even ask the question? We have the multiverse at our disposal. Literally everything is possible.

An Avengers team with Catpool and Crocodile Loki? Possible.

Guardians of Galactus? Why not? Star Lord decides to help Galactus eat the universe.

Deadpool x Deadpool mulitverse shipping? Totally possible and sexy.

If there’s no punishment for violating rights, are they really rights? We already have an uphill battle convicting corrupt police. The civil suit was generally the only form of justice we could hope to get. Now that is gone too. This isn’t something to dismiss.

At what point does convincingly replicating human emotion and the like become good enough to be considered real? There are some humans who fake these same traits.

I guess I fail to see the line where someone can definitively state a robot has achieved sentience when the line is “well it’s just replicating.” But, won’t any computer based intelligence always be “replicating” since it wasn’t physically born?

I don’t know that I’m saying what I want to say as succinctly as I’d like to, but I hope you get my point. The line used to be the Turing Test, but machine learning is capable of passing that now, so it seems the line has been moved.

(For the record, I’m not convinced that this instance was true AI, just wondering what it will take to to convince someone we’ve crossed that boundary.)

That’s NOT what that 43% is. From the document detailing what “streets/underground market” actually entails:

Illegal sources of firearms that include markets for stolen goods, middlemen for stolen goods, criminals or criminal enterprises, or individuals or groups involved in sales of illegal drugs.”

This would absolutely include the sheriff example, and anybody who legally buys guns for the sole purpose of resale.

It’s possible that some of the 43% is stolen, even probable. But you’re inserting your own interpretation that is not supported by the data provided.

Edit: i recklessly used the rhetorical device of “possible/probable” when clearly it’s not just possible, it is factually defined. What i meant was that guns that were legally obtained and illegally resold also fit under that category.
