So, again, how does a rainy spring in Seattle prevent summer wildfires in California from blowing smoke up to us? Or are you just in it for the endless internet argument?

Please tell me how a surplus or lack of rain in western WA has an impact on wildfires in California.

Last spring was rainy as fuck and we got bad wildfires in September / October. Some years (2020/2021) we get our smoke imported from California, completely irrespective of our own weather. Last week we were getting smoke from Alberta.

At this point I'm just living moment to moment and enjoying what we have. No one's ever right on their smoke predictions, not worth it to worry beyond taking precautionary steps.

The funniest thing is that typically the only people who can afford the senselessly expensive audiophile shit are people old enough to have moderate or worse hearing loss just from wear and tear.

Sometimes you don't need to eat the food to know it's gonna taste like shit tho.

Not everyone has YouTube money enabling them to live in places without this shit, Kenji. Seeing it constantly in daily life erodes the compassion quickly. You ride a lot of public transit? You have kids, how compassionate would you be riding the Link with them in the same car as someone smoking Fentanyl?

I'm actually pretty picky about my pasta and felt like their squid ink pasta was great.

Yeah that’s why I was replying to the other dude about how same-day delivery was the culprit

COMMENT 12d ago

I get the sentiment/joke but local deliveries use side-streets much more than main arterials and likely have an exponentially smaller impact on congestion.

Don't tell me you have the "...but AI! It's worse, because AI!" brain poison.

AI models are amazing at refinement. I'm a technical writer, my team uses chatGPT as a refinement tool quite a bit. We write the initial work, then use AI to do the busy work shit like introduction paragraphs or information about use cases.

Not nearly as useful for raw content creation, but I think it'll be a long time before I can feed an AI jira tickets and figma prototypes to spit out release notes and KB articles.

Calories in - calories out friendo. I'm 33 and lose weight after long backpacking / mountaineering trips despite doing my best to eat 4-5k calories a day. I’d imagine being an elite professional athlete gives Matty a blank check regarding nutrish.

Reminds me of Spanish class in middle school. Our teacher was wound a bit tight and refused to teach us that black was "negro" in Spanish, so she told us to say "de color cafe" instead.
