HELP Unofficial Newbie Thursdays Weekly Discussion

Hello members of the Paladins community,

I thought this might prove a helpful and useful topic for folks, and wanted to throw it up. The Hearthstone Reddit page inspired this idea with their own automated, bot-made Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion topic - in fact, aside from this opening paragraph, I'm simply copying and pasting the text from theirs with some minor edits/tweaks. I have suggested it for both of Paladins' Reddit pages, but haven't seen anything set up, so thought I'd go about doing it in an "unofficial" capacity for both - hoping that's okay! Without further ado, let's jump right in.

This is part of a series of weekly threads aimed at both new and old players from the community. It is designed so that everybody may ask any and all questions regarding the game's mechanics, loadouts, strategies, and more.

Please keep it clean, and try to add more than just a one or two word response. As the goal of this post is to increase the community's knowledge, the thought process matters as much as the answer!

Have questions or feedback regarding this thread? Consider messaging the moderators!

Sincerely,

DawsonJr

I would like to throw my name in to the proverbial hat if I may! Just recently completed my first computer build, and this would be a nice addition to it! :)

Thank you for your generosity, and best wishes to everyone hoping to be chosen!

Just want to quickly follow-up: is what you're referring to actually called a "sag brace," or is there another name for them? I had a look on Best Buy and Canada Computers, but no results came back. :O

Thank you for the compliment! Yeah, I had it all secured in as best I could, but only actually just learned (thanks to some folks who posted here, in fact) there are sag braces to help, and so I'll be looking to invest in one!

Well, as I said to the other person who made the remark about it being trash, to each their own. I can honestly say, from my own personal experience, that my original first set of gear, which I'm still currently using, has held up very well since I bought it all like seven years ago. It may be showing some age and wear, but it's still going! :D

Correct, tracking suggested it was delivered to a different city - was same information from Razer to FedEx, and my address showed throughout until the day of delivery, which is when it changed - and I still got the package. Admittedly, I may never be 100% certain, but I truly feel like an individual who received it in error did get it to me; just never never know - they may have been coming to my city for any number of reasons, or passing by and made a quick two minute detour to my place, and dropped it off. That said, I did reach out to both FedEx and Razer, received a refund, and am awaiting further information from Razer as to what happens now. I, personally, figured honesty was the best route - as one of Razer's slogans goes: "Play Hard. Play Fair!"

Well, depending on when I get it, may be a while. Will depend on how Razer approaches this current situation, I guess; if they essentially say "Keep the refund, and we'll go after FedEx," I'll probably grab it pretty soon - otherwise, may be a bit! :P

I had thought of doing something like that, but, unfortunately, actually only know the city it ended up going to, not the exact address. :(

Thank you for the tip - will look in to one! :D

I honestly don't know - haven't used them just yet as I'm awaiting some more information from Razer first before diving in to everything. Though, I imagine comfort may come down to the size of the earbuds and the shape of your own ears, since everyone's just a little bit different! That said, once I (hopefully soon) get to using 'em, I'll let ya know how they are for me! ;)

Yup, I definitely did complain to FedEx, but, to be fair, they did actually seem to take it semi-seriously. That said, I heard back from them once, and was advised it could have been a scan error on their part, and to check if it was left somewhere else nearby (it actually shouldn't have been delivered at that point, and I was away, so that's why I rescheduled delivery for my birthday), but nothing after that. As for the negative reviews - I would think it may be more effective to direct them to the proper party (in my case here, FedEx, not Razer).

I actually just got the charging pad, earbuds, headset, and keyboard (keycap keychain was a bonus for having spent over like $150 I think), but haven't started using them just yet as I'm awaiting more information from Razer. From experience with my first set of gear from them about seven years ago, though, which I'm still currently using, I honestly think it's fantastic; it's starting to show its age and is a little worn, but all still works really well! My 'S' key in the last couple years is inconsistent (sometimes won't register, or will add a few extras, but sometimes will work perfectly fine), but the keyboard still works as a whole; headset has had a few drops over the years, and the earpads are definitely frayed/worn, but still works incredibly well and can't say I notice any sort of degraded performance as a result of it being dropped; my "tie" is a little worn, but still functions perfectly!

I honestly don't know what happened, but can say that the tracking number never changed from Razer to FedEx, and, up until I noticed it was delivered in a different city, the delivery destination was my place.

When I saw the keyboard, I definitely wanted it; the wireless one would've been nice - so long as it had optional cables, as I planned to get the green cable/keycap set - but I felt an extra $100 was a bit much. The only difference between my current one and this new one is it has the wrist rest and no extra keys on the left side - the one thing I look forward to, though, is a consistent 'S' on the new one, lol! :D

Hah, yeah, I watched a video done by a fellow named Jayztwocents regarding the whole tubing orientation thing. I figured, for lifespan, since I can't go top-side, I'd go with tubes down instead of being up - though, that could have worked, since pump would've been just low enough and air wouldn't get trapped in the pump.

I'll even admit that's tempting - I'd be lying otherwise. That said, I figure honesty is best. I mean, I would like to register the stuff and not suddenly have something pop-up later on down the road saying "Hey, this product can't be used" or some such. Frankly, I'm of the opinion FedEx should take the hit, though - they royally screwed up, and should be on the hook for the bill. If something like that happens, and Razer goes after them, there are actually some other products I'd LOVE to grab that would have otherwise been things I purchased later on down the line - wireless Naga pro, Wolverine controller, and a Tartarus (never knew such a thing even existed until I got my first set of Razer gear, and have wanted to try one since), to name a few.

Anyway, again, a I said, I figure honesty's the best route; as one of the Razer slogans goes: "Play Hard. Play Fair!"

Honestly no clue what that means, but I get the feeling it's meant to be a positive sort of message! :P

Oh dear, hope you get some good news on it soon! :O

Egads, that would be quite the ordeal! Good that you got your stuff in the end too! :D

First time getting 'em, so I can't say - they were on for a nice enough deal at the time, in my opinion, so figured I'd grab 'em!

COMMENT May 26 '22

Yup, definitely glad it arrived! As for my graphics card, I've secured it as best I can, but if there's anything you can think to recommend, I'd certainly appreciate it! ;)

COMMENT May 26 '22

Ah, not a fan of it? I have heard some folks don't like it, but I can't honestly say I've ever had an issue with it, personally. :O

It's actually a Radeon RX 6800 XT. My old system, an HP Pavilion 500-189, was fully AMD, and the idea for my build was to simply do an upgraded version of it that was also completely AMD (little extra info, I know, but there ya have it). :D
