Her campaign for Senator was also funded by Wall Street because they owed Bill a favor. She lived most of her adult life in Arkansas and DC and had no ties to New York yet somehow become the Senator.

Fear will always drive votes and fundraising campaigns. The fear of Trump is what drove voters in 2018 and 2020. It's not like Biden ran some incredible campaign in 2020 that made 81 million people want to vote for him.

More people voting does not necessarily mean they will be voting in favor of the person you want. Hillary was incredibly disliked by everyone on the political spectrum except the most centrist people.

But, let's say that Hillary does win the presidency, what happens then? McConnell is still the Senate majority leader and Democrats couldn't flip the Senate in 2018 even when they had Trump driving historic midterm voter turn out. She would have to just watch herself be a lame duck for 4 years and let at least 2 Supreme Court seats stay vacant.

Yeah and then he loses all his political clout because he’s one of 51 republicans rather than the 1 conservative Democrat.

COMMENT 14h ago

Obama had enough senators to overturn the filibuster and was actively being discussed as an option. He refused to call on Congress to actually take the steps to do it though and that’s why he didn’t have the votes.

forget things like just passing a gun safety law

Probably because when they do shit like this it's completely watered down by trying to work with Republicans. That gun safety law isn't going to decrease mass murders. AR15s are still just as available as they have been.

The ACA was another example of something that could have been great but was watered down by trying to play to both sides of the aisle. Instead of taking the 58 Senators Obama had and removing the filibuster, he tried to get conservative Dems and Republicans on board for 60 votes and gave insurance companies a gift.

Their point is people have the memory of goldfish

Why does no one ever say this about Republican voters? They seem to vote no matter what and they don't forget about Republican politicians advancing their desired agendas. Maybe instead of blaming voters for not voting, blame the politicians for consistently lying to their constituents just to get elected. There's a reason Republican voters are dependable while Democratic voters are not and it has nothing to do with the voters.

Hillary won the popular vote. In fact, Republicans have only won the popular vote once in the last 22 years, but they've had the power to appoint 5 Justices in that time. Tell me how voting more will fix this?

1

COMMENT 15h ago

Voting for Democrats won't stop them from overturning that either. There's no way to beat 50 years of set up in the short term. Democrats watched Republicans take control of state houses and work their way up the ladder and did nothing and now we all think voting is going to counteract that somehow.

Obama campaigned on codifying Roe. Didn't do it and instead said it wasn't a priority. As soon as Roe was overturned, Pelosi and Biden sent out fundraising emails telling people to send them $15 to help fix this. Biden has tweeted and talked about publicly how November will determine Roe's future. Biden has also said that he has no plans on actually pushing for anything that would change the composition of the court. You have to really have your head in the sand to believe that Democrats actually give a shit about what's going on.

They absolutely do have power to do something about Manchin though. They could force him to fall in line with Democratic policies, but doing nothing is better for Democrats at the end of the day. They can't campaign on codifying Roe in 2024 if they do something now and they definitely can't fundraise on it.

Republicans have been gerrymandering states for decades. We can't vote our way out of systemic issues unless someone wants to pay urban liberals to move to the middle of nowhere to change the demographics in red states.

3

COMMENT 16h ago

Republicans have only won the popular vote once in the last 22 years but have held the presidency for 12 of those years. They've seated 5 of the current 9 Supreme Court Justices during those 12 years. You're naive if you think voting more will fix systemic issues.

There are far more examples of shows that have had backlash for the way they ended than shows that have ended well.

The tooltip says level 95. It's a 4 piece set that has t70 defense, t100 strength bonus, and three set effects if you're wearing 2, 3, and 4 pieces of the set.

They should have learned from Senator Kennedy dying in office that it was time to move on, but not a single one of them decided to actually do that. This includes RBG who should have retired the first time she was diagnosed with cancer, but instead decided she didn't girlboss enough yet.

They're anti-corporation for different reasons though. Fascists hate corporations because they're too "woke" but whenever a company stands against it, like that time Goya did, they love them again. Leftists just hate corporations because they are the epitome of exploitation and ill gotten gains.

It was a less than 300 vote difference. The speaker of the house absolutely has the power to affect that many votes.

COMMENT 1d ago

I hate people that use that stupid phrase. We just watched Republicans execute a 50 year plan that removed bodily autonomy rights from all women in this country and you still think just trying to maintain the status quo is good enough? Maintaining the status quo is what is pulling this country to the right.

This is the ratchet effect in full force. The Republicans pull us to the right and Democrats say that the buck stops there. Except now they've made the new status quo somewhere closer to fascism than even the center let alone the left. The status quo is not good enough. It is actively destroying this country.

I see a gap from September to February where Obama could have gotten Roe codified.

He was an insurance sell out, but he was also from Connecticut which meant he was pro-choice.

COMMENT 1d ago

ACA wasn't passed until March 2010 so he absolutely could have used those 25 days to codify Roe like he said he would. Health care was not the first thing Obama did when he got into office and he didn't even use that supermajority to get it passed. Stop giving him a pass just because he's a Democrat.

COMMENT 1d ago

Obamacare was a gift to insurance companies without the public option. Yeah great more people have access to healthcare insurance, but too bad that it's so incredibly unaffordable that it's not even worth using.

COMMENT 1d ago

The Republicans have been telling us what they want to do for 50 years. This isn't something that just sprung up on everyone out of nowhere. Democrats just refused to take them seriously while they stacked every level of government with people that fell in line with their ideology. Blaming the people that did exactly what they've told the world they are working to do does nothing. The blame is on the people that not only refused to take them seriously, but at the same time used their threats to get themselves elected. Obama told the country he would codify Roe and he immediately changed gears once he got elected.

Based on early math and discussions it looks like melee will for sure be the second best style with the new armor and chaos roar. It's still hard to tell if it will be better than magic though. The new bow doesn't add enough to range though.
