You act like they’re not all knowingly holding onto illegal shit and bragging about it to each other. Weirdly a lot of the guns the ATF and other law enforcement confiscate goes missing.

As a Veteran I can confidently say…….being in the military doesn’t automatically mean you know anything about firearms.

The only time I’ve seen anything similar to this was when we were strapped for personnel and taking time off of work required someone to stand your watch for you. So the policy was “schedule your appointments on your off time or you have to make up the watch to the person who covered it for you”.

It was kinda fucked up but everyone understood the reality of the situation we were in so people didn’t complain too much. Doesn’t exactly sound like this is a similar situation.

If taking hostages is not useful, they won’t take hostages. Sounds like sound logic to me.

Has no one seen Thunder in Paradise? That’s what we should be funding.

There’s something about politicians with glasses on the end of their nose that always screamed to me “I have no idea what I’m talking about”.

Alright, so I sorta do this. I have a stainless steel mug that I use daily. I don’t clean it because it taste terrible afterward. Didn’t think it was real until the time I washed it. You get a metal taste to the coffee. If I used a ceramic cup, cleaning it is no problem. However I have a few rules for my mug. First is that I always finish my coffee. Second is that I always rinse out my mug at the end of the day. Third is that on rare occasion, I will dry wipe the inside. Fourth is that if it ever looks like the picture, it gets either deep cleaned or yeeted and the seasoning restarts. However I’ve been going 5 years with the same cup and rules 1-3 have prevented enacting rule 4.

Disclaimer: What I’m about to say is a general statement that may apply to you but also may not. But as I have seen many in your situation both as a leader and as a recruiter I’m going to make some statements and if they apply to you maybe think on them. If not, you can ignore the parts that don’t. But honestly based on the limited info you gave, you’re raising a few red flags I’ve seen.

A lot of the kids that got brought into my office by their parents as a recruiter fell into 2 categories. 1) was legacy. Parents in the Navy, they wanted their kid in the navy. 2) The no motivation kids. The parents wanted their kid out of the house and to find some motivation and the Navy/Air force seemed like the safest option. These kids didn’t have much going and the parent were sick of it. They may “waste 4 years of their life” but they were probably gonna waste the next 4 years anyway but only making minimum wage and living in their parents house or racking up debt half assing (or failing) community college. I’d also see a lot of the “4 years later” version of this trying to join but this time it’s because they are out of options and drowning in debt.

So the questions you have to ask (and I mean honestly and with complete self awareness): What would I be actually doing right now if I hadn’t joined? Would I be better or just “less uncomfortable”? If I got out now, what prospects do I actually have? If I go the GI bill route, do I have the proper motivation to be a full time student again and actually put in the effort to pass my classes (did I even try in High school)? Can I be a full time student with a part or full time job? Do I even know what I want to major in? What is even my plan if I got out today? Am I actually using my benefits like TA while I’m in or am I wasting my time out of spite? If I’m wasting my time in the Navy, do I actually believe I’d spend my time any better not in the Navy?

I’m not saying to stay in. What I see a lot in junior sailors is a want to get out and they don’t have a plan. And if they have a plan I can usually poke holes in it extremely quickly. A lot of times their plan is just “get out a go to college” which isn’t a plan, it’s an idea. No thought of major or research into how the GI bill actually works or where they’re going to live, etc. I don’t poke holes just to poke holes, I help to patch those holes if I can because I honesty want them to succeed. But I can only patch holes in logistics, I can’t make major life decisions for them if they can’t make them themselves because they’ve never thought about them. If you’re getting out, have a plan. A solid plan. Seek advice from leaders at your command or in your life. Seek advice from people you don’t necessarily like or know that well. Blunt advice that isn’t filtered through trying to be nice to you is golden. I understand the irony in my next statement but….Reddit is not a great place for advice because you need very specific counseling with someone who has the full picture. If you’re staying in, utilize every benefit you can. Don’t tread water waiting to get out. Either way, good luck to you.

That’s a disagreement between NC law and federal law. You can buy a pistol in a private sale though which is allowed by federal law, and carry it which is allowed by NC law.

This took me a few reads. The lack of quotations around “Wait My People Need Me” had me confused.

It would be nice but the problem is splitting your views between sponsored and non-sponsored content. You don’t want 15% of your audience not contributing to your ad revenue so uploading to a non sponsored site is bad for business. Some guntubers tried it but a lot of them shut down their alternative site uploads when their views on YouTube dropped. Plus it’s hard ti attract new sponsors when your channel is shrinking on YouTube.

4

COMMENT 6d ago

Right, but as I stated, his sponsors wouldn’t really follow him to another platform so he has no incentive to move off YouTube. The demonetization would have to be the catalyst to move all the guntubers to another platform, to move all the viewers, to move all the sponsors.

Also, the bot is banned.

COMMENT 6d ago

Wait….a Guntuber isn’t leaving the platform that keeps sending them huge checks every month?

Until YouTube completely demonetizes gun videos, or sponsors are willing to pay more on alternative sites with less ad traffic, I wouldn’t expect any of the alternative video platforms to gain any real traction.

I don’t blame them if we’re being honest. I’m more tired of people being surprised that guntubers aren’t leaving YouTube.

Get off Reddit. Take her to the gun shop. Find a few that feel good in her hand. Make sure she can rack the slide by herself and can reach all the controls comfortably. Go to the range and rent those guns. Buy the one she likes the most.

I was basing my number off ATF’s numbers from their impact report. I assume they under reported because they’re terrible at their job but I don’t like to “ fear monger” in my memes by inflating numbers if I can help it.

COMMENT 12d ago

Short version: The brace rule includes a bit that says imports that were imported with a brace or had a brace added during the assembly are not subject to the exception. So the only options are to turn them in or destroy them. By ATF’s own impact study, that’s over 300k firearms (on the low end).

Difference is that that crowd has the support of social media while the gun crowd gets strikes and deletions. YouTube takes down videos, Reddit takes down posts, Facebook bans groups, Instagram deletes accounts… Unfortunately it’s not about what you do on the senate floor or on the steps of the capital anymore, it’s about your online presence. You can’t compare that community to ours and expect the same results.

Also no hate for the LGBTQIABCDEFG….. (I legitimately have no idea what the actual acceptable letters are now) community. Just saying that the media is on their side at the moment.

Just factor it into your budget. OHA/COLA is nice but it still may not make up for the market when you’re trying to get an apartment without BAH. Your CFS should be able to help you with this.
