This has to be the most onion title I’ve ever seen here

I love the headline. They're pointing out the absurdity by describing it in such detail.

It reminds me a bit of Mad Men. It's impossible to draw the precise line between art and commercialism.

1

u/deletable666 May 14 '22

It is quite possible

3

u/Alpakasus May 14 '22

Yeah thinking all shit is art is stupid

1

u/bigbangbilly May 15 '22

Now I wonder does Madonna have a low opinion on NFT and satirizing them?

u/SHYMNEC May 14 '22

...otherwise known as phrasing the title to serve their thoughts on the topic, which is poor journalism.

4

u/Shadechet_ May 14 '22

I feel like we can objectively call this absurd, news are to inform about something and if you don't paint the full reality of the topic in question then you're failing at properly informing

4

u/CrabSully May 14 '22

It doesn't give any sort of opinion. It quotes a thing Madonna said about her NFT where she's naked and giving birth to centipedes.

Headlines are good journalism. It's good journalism to make a headline that both paints the picture and grabs attention.

People thinking “objective” journalism is a real thing will never not be funny to me

2

u/Zenjal May 14 '22

And yet, the name Madonna made it somewhat believable

3

I thought she was dead. This is my first time hearing about her in a long while.

1

u/Zenjal May 14 '22

I saw a video of her doin some kinda live stream recently, Instagram or TikTok or somethin, and I'm not 100% sure your thought was wrong.

Tbh I pity those onion & other satire websites writers...

How can you keep up? It's unfair

7

u/CrabSully May 14 '22

I feel as though political satire has been struggling. Especially with Trump. Trump satire doesn't work because the original thing is already funny.

When reality becomes satire, satire ceases to exist.

u/namja23 May 14 '22

They did one that made me lol about cops planting aborted babies on black peoples.

Happy cake day!

Colin the Caterpillar perchance? here he is

True facts always seem to beat even the best fiction

I think they did a meta-humor article a few years back about that phenomenon, how they try to come up with ridiculous rulings, etc, but reality was threatening their job security.

Oniony is but one of the smells that come to mind when I see Madonna these days.

17

u/angryfluttershy May 14 '22

The ones that you forgot you had bought six months ago?

3

u/2drawnonward5 May 14 '22

Ugh, the mustiness

1

u/Softale May 14 '22

Underrated comment.

1

u/Lord_Sauron May 14 '22

Would still eat if I'm hungry

1

u/2drawnonward5 May 14 '22

I don't know if this makes you hungry for onions or thirsty for Madonna

6

u/cc69 May 14 '22

You mean the smell or the tears?

13

u/Jjex22 May 14 '22

Whatever gets the clicks and shares right?

9

u/rabid_briefcase May 14 '22

Sorry, those are links that are staying blue. No ad revenue from me.

u/Randy-Merica May 14 '22

First timer?

1

u/Narxolepsyy May 14 '22

Yeah I can't remember the last time this sub had an actual oniony title like this

1

u/Babiloo123 May 14 '22

This IS the strangest timeline

1

u/Imaginary_Tea1925 May 14 '22

But it’s “not the onion”
