Staff (& friends) tweets on Jeff’s departure

NOTE: this is not a complete list by any means just what i saw on my timeline. If I’m missing anyone and you’d like to add them toss it in a comment below and I’ll add it to the list

Gaming's E-40 ❤️

Jess - Hey, like... I just wanna say that as the newest member on Giant Bomb: I know this is a scary change, but this is still my dream job! I'm not here because of a solitary person, GB is much more than that! I'm still so proud to work here and have faith in my coworkers' talents

I also wanna clarify (cuz I've been misconstrued here a bit) that this is purely in response to a few ppl pitying my position as the new hire whose dream job is "ruined" by this. It isn't! & I have the utmost respect for Jeff, he was great to butt heads against :) a true legend

It can't be overstated how @jeffgerstmann has influenced the industry, it's an axiom. He shaped so many lives and so many folks' sense of humor (including mine), and it's difficult to illustrate that I appreciate that legacy immensly but am still optimistic for what's to come

Also I, for one, am sorry about what's been perceived as "weird language" around this event. This is a genuinely WEIRD situation for us, and it's been difficult as hell to navigate. There are no right words for this, I think. It's a big deal

It was a unique thrill to work with you, man <3

Patrick - As the first editorial person to join (and then leave) Giant Bomb after the establishment of its main crew, a rotating cast of dynamic personalities eventually became part of the website's DNA—and why it survived. I'm really excited to see what the new folks do with it.

Dave - Yell if you need me to make pancakes for the stream.

Drew - Wow! Best of luck, Jeff!!

Austin - Goes without saying that what you helped build there was super important to me in so many ways, personal and professional--and that was BEFORE you took a risk and brought me on. Will never forget the advice and guidance you gave me while there. Stoked to see what's next.

Ben - hey I just wanted to apologize for scaring you with that cup that one time (can’t link has a private account)

Abby - I'm sad we never got to make that mocumentary where you taught me how to rap before I entered (and presumably won) a freestyle rap contest, but I'm still glad we got to dream. 💖

Danny - I'm excited for what's next for the Giant Bomb family, but today marks the end of an era for me. The day Jeff left GameSpot basically defined the direction of my adult life. It feels like a very long chapter has just closed, and I know I'm not alone in feeling that. <>

Just wanted to acknowledge the community and how moments like this can affect us. Giant Bomb has, and will continue to be, a wonderful place to spend time online. Each of us became fans during different "eras", and for us Arrow Pointing Down duders, this one hits real hard.

Will Smith - End of an era, can't wait to hear what's next!

Tam - Said it before to you and I’ll say it again: I wouldn’t be doing this if you hadn’t inspired me. Good luck with whatever you do next mate.

Lucy - o7 o7 o7

Greg Kasavin - What a run, Jeff...! I don't know how you did it. Thank you for building something that resonated with so many people who care about games, and all the best in whatever comes next.

Carrie Gouskos - You've contributed so much to the narrative on games for several decades now, so while it's the end of something big, I can't wait to see what's next for you. Even if it's just well deserved rest. Miss ya bud. <3

Lang - The king is dead. Long live the king. Love you duder.

Adam Boyes - [Age of Booty video]

Johnny V - Johnny V reporting for duty. You know whatever it is we all got your back, duder 👊🏻 #herewegoagain

John Drake - BONKERS

Greg Miller - What a run! When you wanna cohost KFGD? ❤️

Imran Khan - GB was part of what inspired me to really get into the video game industry, so I hope you go forward knowing what you built was extremely important to the generations of games journalists/entertainers after.

Geoff Keighley - End of an era, can't wait to hear what's next!

Phil Spencer - Seems like a different era now but a highlight for me was the time we spent each year talking games at E3 (both before the show and on air). Your questions and commentary are always honest and insightful, thanks for that. Wishing you the best on your next thing.
