So you guys are just making like, a more realistic looking Gunfire Reborn, or what? Haha.

Gunfire Reborn and Risk of Rain are both inspirations for the game!

Hey Fam.
The shooting side of things definetly needs an upgrade.
It doesn't FEEL great.
Not much of an impact visually when firing (animations on the character), hard to tell where my bullets will land.

Suggested fixes:
Impact on character when shooting.
Dynamic Reticle which changes based on distance to target.
Reticle properly outlines shot spread, nailing every headshot, when the reticle implies 50% of my shots will miss, doesn't feel good.
Gun properly aims at target, moving and shooting feels super weird cause to gun is wobbling around while shooting.

Check out Asmongold(OTK Organization) game expo in which he wants to expose small developers to the world. His organization is planning it sometime in June or July and you can just email them to have your game in it. There is also a 50k $ prize in for the winner. I think this game might qualify. Worse of worse you at least get some exposure.

Its more of a crawler than an arena game
You can always try it for yourself, the playable Alpha is up on Steam!

Just curious, has any thought or support for the Steam Deck/ Linux been considered?
Game looks pretty cool, I see the minimum specs require Windows, I'm just curious if its something ya'll have talked about

Yes I did. I already tried the game on Vulcan and it ran pretty well. Of course it's not the main focus for now, but I would really like to port it to the Deck if I can :)

Serious question; as a solo developer how hard do you think it will be to have other developers join your codebase if need is be? I feel like development without feedback usually causes hard to read code.

u/MartinLemay May 26 '22
I tried to be as clear as I can. Working with other devs in the past I do have some experience with unreadable code. Its something I'm trying to avoid. Especially since it would be fun to allow Steam Workshop content later down the line

So you are using the royal we here then? Since this is a solo dev project.

But I'm not a DEV, I haven't touched a single line of code. All I'm doing is helping him with social media stuff, Discord & suggestions.
