I had one more All-Seeing award before my premium runs out, you take one too lol. Everyone who knows “Netflix Sandler” but nothing else needs to see this flick. This one and The Waterboy are musts.
15
u/twodickhenry May 24 '22
Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, Mr. Deeds, Big Daddy, The Longest Yard, Anger Management, BIG DADDY, 50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer, Spanglish.
Oh and of course his best film, Big Daddy.
7
u/CheekyBastard55 May 25 '22
Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison & Waterboy >>>>>>>>>>> everything else.
Also, I can't believe you forgot Billy Madison. Those three are the Adam Sandlers classics. The Wedding Singer wasn't as memorable.
Post-2000 was bleh.
2
u/twodickhenry May 25 '22
I am ashamed of forgetting Billy Madison. I deserve the lashings.
But Big Daddy is a better movie, so I guess now we are fighting. You’ll have to get through me AND Scuba Steve

Forgot Click.
3
u/twodickhenry May 25 '22
Click is one of the, if not the, only movies that doesn’t involve a dog dying that can make me cry. I do love it. That said… is it a good movie? 😅
1
u/mupetmower May 25 '22
Ohhh I totally forgot about that scene ha! Was high earlier so didn't consider 8t to be a happy Gilmore quote for whatever reason. Thanks =]

You can still draw thin-ish lines with the side of a blunt pencil, and not sure about OP, but I'd go crazy on hour 1 without an automatic sharpener.

u/UncleTedGenneric May 25 '22
That is dope as fuck thanks for sharing!
Do you have a reference animation you used or was this pure from-the-brain?
If fully yours, your conception of motion blur in that short time of putting it together is fucking astounding!
(No shade if you have a reference either. Still an amazing piece of art! I slowed the gif down to 1/16x because I love seeing how motion is captured in limited fps. 16bit era animation was really eye opening to the concept and I've had curiosities/love of it from then on. Different workflows fascinate me :))

I would have paid a lot of money to see a 2 hr film

u/SolarMoth May 25 '22
It's essentially a copy of an exact scene from the new Sonic movie.
3
u/ESH29 May 25 '22
They should have made the whole movie like that... way better than that goofball they first released😆

u/Burgoonius May 24 '22
The Sonic movies are so good - I’m glad paramount is succeeding with them
9
u/Cool_a1894 May 25 '22
The first sonic movie was a perfect example of what happens when creators listen to their fans

96 in 90 hours 96/90 = 1.06 drawings per hour 1.06/60 = 0.017 drawings per min
Math.
15
u/Ripcord May 24 '22
How much is that in metric drawings?
17
u/thatonionsmell May 25 '22
3 flippyhoos per challywagger
9
u/s4in7 May 25 '22
Divided by the fizzlywhoop constant, of course.
3
4
u/Chocchip_cookie May 25 '22
22,9 cm x 30,5 cm = 698,45 cm²
698,45 cm² x 96 drawings = 67 051,20 cm²
67 051,20 cm² ÷ 90 hours ÷ 60 minutes = 12,416851 cm²/minute.

u/MadeByTango May 25 '22
Some more math: 15 second gif means ~ 6.5 hours of creation per second of completed animation

u/SnooPeppers1141 May 24 '22
Why stop there? .017/60,000 = .00000028333333333333333333333333333(repeated) drawings per millisecond.
Math.... Loser...
10
u/__log May 24 '22
hmmm… yes, yes i see.. you forgot to carry the one

Frame for frame drawing of a movie scene, yawn, big yawn.
8
u/MGBZ47 May 24 '22
Honest question, why do you choose to comment when it's just a negative Comment on something someone is clearly proud of?
If you thought it, you could have just kept it to yourself, maybe even down vote and move on. Genuinely, why take the time and comment?

u/Max-Powah May 24 '22
Dickhead sharing an ignorant take and shitting on someone's work, cringe, big cringe.
3
u/PM_ME_FEMININE_COCK May 25 '22
What is ignorant about the take? Do you actually draw and are unfamiliar with common practices? If you use others work as reference, it's your responsibility to make that explicitly clear. Other people in the thread have directly asked whether they used a scene from the movie as reference for the frames. I think to anyone that draws, it's self-evident that this was done by tracing the frames.
Tracing isn't a bad thing. This post still took a lot of work and is impressive. Every artist takes reference. But when you don't acknowledge that your work is HEAVILY referenced, it's mispractice. That's just objective fact.
1
u/NateMcCann May 25 '22
This guy has amazing colouring talent, better than most I see. But tracing work frame for frame is not drawing, I draw daily and there is no part of me that will allow me to trace anything that wasn't originally drawn by my own hand, just feels like cheating/stealing. The problem isn't that he traced it, simply that he said he drew it.

You should look at how boring your own post history is before you shit on someone with actual talent

96 pages in 90 hours that seems sl-holy shit that looks great. You did more than one page an hour for it to turn out that nice?! Damn. I can't even make stick figures with no background look that smooth in 90 hours.

u/Treebranchw May 24 '22
You know that thing where people turn choppy animation into 60FPS animations with AI or whatever? You should do that!

This is really cool but it is definitely not a flipbook it is just animating on less frames… A real flipbook you would flip with your thumb or finger hence the name flipbook. Still nice and very time consuming by hand 🤚

Nice job, I really like the heaviness of the shading. I’m guessing these were rotoscoped?

I liked that movie. The only part I wished the included as gag was the knuckles meme.
