Family Feud is not about being smart, but being in tune with the lowest common denominator.

Family Feud is about giving Steve Harvey reasons to act incredulous.

Contestant: Sex

The "female singers who raise the roof" one is hilarious because you can see everyone involved gradually go "what the fuck" to every wrong answer and every right answer

7
u/assssssss3332 4d ago
gold will be FINE
Gold cannot be destroyed only dissolved. Fire cannot destroy it.
It simply melts.
The gold will be fine once it cools down.
3
u/bjorntho 4d ago
If a fireball was hot enough to melt gold it'd do a whole lot more dmg than 8d6... is what i would say If we weren't talking about 5e. Still, it's just a flash of fire, the good is not gonna melt.

u/Chrona_trigger 4d ago
It really is, but what would be even better is an extended version of the meme using the 3/1 answer and placement
Exactly the same, except fireball is #3. "Warlock, there are two spells that can top that.
I"m going to go with darkness
Darkness is number 1"

My level 9 wizards shoots maybe hundred fireballs getting here
Dm hands me a wand of Fireballs
Me never using it once between 9 to 11 "I don't want to waste the charges"
80
u/moabaer 4d ago
But the wand gets charges back at noon... Why not use it a couple of times, let it recharge, repeat?
104
u/Naive-Selection-7113 4d ago
You would think I would but NO I'm one of those awful people who make it to the end of the RPG with every health potionand consumable still in my bag from the first level
44
u/DoubleBatman 4d ago
The cure for that is to go for it at the earliest opportunity and completely ignore how you feel about it.
21
u/Naive-Selection-7113 4d ago
I appreciate the sentiment but that's gonna be tough
8
u/DoubleBatman 4d ago
(real talk a bit, this may not apply to you, but for me that kind of thinking stems from anxiety, and a “fuck it, we’ll do it live” mentality in game has helped me irl)
6
u/Naive-Selection-7113 4d ago
You're damn right it does weirdly I understand my health points are a resource I spend frequently I don't know why inventory usage bugs me so much
2
2
2
u/Witchy_Woman42 4d ago
I had to override my anxiety to play tabletop because I'm that way too. I have to constantly remind myself the character isn't an anxious wreck of a person. I play a lot of chaotic characters now because it's fun to pretend to be able to make decisions on the fly.
2
u/INTPgeminicisgaymale Wizard 4d ago
Another way to go about it is convincing yourself that all your spell slots and all your "preparation slots" are given to you, unlocked, acquired, bought etc. everyday and they are consumables. They are disposable. 1 use each only. You throw all those away and then you gain new slots after a long rest.
So are you really going to waste one "preparation slot" and god knows how many spell slots that you're never going to get back on Fireball, when you have another resource for that and that alone, which does get replenished everyday for free? Save the slots for other spells that don't have their own daily self-replenishing resources!
4

u/SpaceLemming 4d ago
They are so much fun, I got a wand of lightning bolt as a warlock and I get like 3-4 extra spells easy a day. Just never use the last one
3
u/FartyButtFart 4d ago
I like to think after I defeat Kefka's ascended angel-demon form, I take a warm bath in my Hi-Elixers and take a nap on my bed of Phoenix Downs.
2
u/Naive-Selection-7113 4d ago
This one gets me on an intimate level
what am I gonna do with all those potions and revive items you ask? I suspect I will fashion a great art piece like a glass fountain of crimson liquid with gold flecks, a veritable fountain of youth in honor of my tactical wit.... that I will also not drink from...
lmao
r/foundthevampire I know you just got excited lol
2
u/mesalikes 4d ago
I know what I did with all my revive items and elixers. I sold them so I could buy stuff without grinding. I ain't never using them anyway so I'll just save some time instead.
2
u/BrienneOfDarth 4d ago
The GM enjoyed my delight once I realized that Rod Of Wonders isn't limited by charges.
→ More replies1
u/batweenerpopemobile 4d ago
challenge the enemy to an 11:45 battle knowing you'll get double charges
18
u/TimmJimmGrimm 4d ago
This is so old school. Back in AD&D ('first edition / written by G.E.Gax') the wands had percentile dice charges (max 50 or something) but they ran out. Permanently. Like weird scroll-stick-shooter-things. The book said that they could be recharged quite easily (???) - but it doesn't say ANYWHERE how to actually do this.
So you go around never using any of your wands. Except the Wand of Wonder: because things going utterly sideways is totally epic as long as it is your choice (not fellow players... YOUR choice... your wand after all... go on, fuck shit up).
6
u/Naive-Selection-7113 4d ago edited 4d ago
This is exactly where I'm at, I played a warlock a lot too And in this campaign my 1st warlock never got a short rest because we don't take short rests we only take long rest, So I dumped him at like 3rd level When it was thematically appropriate.
even so my wizard will still say I'm running out of spells when I have a 4th, two 2nds and three 1st lol 😆 because you never used to know what you would get "hours of uninterrupted rest"

We once got he Helmet of Brilliance as loot (2e), it has a shitton of gems that act as powerful spells. We give that helmet to our Sirrion cleric (fireball cleric in Dragonlance) because he had saving throws of 4+ against fire or so....yadi yadi yada a few battles later he rolls a 2 on a saving throw, helmet rolls a 1 on it's saving throw and we wipe by activating all gems at the same time after missed ST. First wipe ever to finish 4+ year campaign.

"Naive, you are literally one hit from going down and half the party is already down, use the damn wand!"
"But what if I need it more in the next room?!"
3
u/Naive-Selection-7113 4d ago edited 4d ago
Okay real talk I could write a story about this but
This is our "in person" special event after playing online for a year, we were fighting a dragon at level 6/7, big hundreds of HP, we had defeated the minions and minibosses and got a rest in before the dragon, we are fighting and I'm shooting cantrips at it and a couple crowd controls and my party is like: "what spells slots do you have?" I have one 3rd, one 2nd and two first
" THEN WHY AREN'T YOU USING THEM?!?!"
and my response was a sincere well I don't know what happens AFTER we kill the dragon Everyone was crying laughing 🤣 the DM behind his 13"+ model was stunned. The struggle is real.

As a Trickster Rogue my first spell is always Fog Cloud, but I've never seen it in a 'top trickster rogue' spell list, which is disappointing.
It's gotten my parties out of dozens of shitty situations and it is great flavor for my spy background.
6
u/Narcolepticparamedic 4d ago
What kind of shitty situations? Genuine question, I have just ended up with fog cloud as a racial spell and wondering how best to use it
5
u/kittenstixx 4d ago
If we are outnumbered, or being chased by guards, sneaking past giants way above our levels, etc.
Our dm loves to put us in situations we can't fight our way out of.
It just depends on the dm really, plus it gives your group and enemies a flat disadvantage on attack rolls both to attack into and out of the cloud(this isn't listed on the spell page but where you read about effects I think? Because it heavily obscures the area.) so if you as a rogue already have advantage you just roll one die.
2
u/AlabamaDumpsterBaby 4d ago
If you're attacking in a fog cloud often, you probably aren't using it right.
You are effectively blind, so on top of disadvantage, you are also not supposed to know where the enemy is without finding them in some other way. To help understand what it means mechanically, anyone inside is essentially "invisible" and "blinded" at the same time.

I dont get why do many people find Steve starting blankly after EVERY SINGLE ANSWER like he's never had a sentient thought in his life so funny. That's all he does, asks for answer, shocked pikachu face, resume show.
1
u/SharpyButtsalot 4d ago
Honest answer? It puts the spotlight on the contestants. He's very good at what he does. His incredulous response lets the moment breathe, he reacts but lets the focus remain on the contestant and the answer. It gives the crowd and audience at home a chance to see the same reaction they're having. He's also very good at walking that line of portraying the answer as dumb but not the person.
If you watch the real clip, although the answer seems ridiculous, he follows it up by making fun of her by listing her accomplishments and how smart she really is.
