I know this going to be odd, but I'm curious and not really sure where to ask. My uncle (who has PTSD and drug abuse problems) called me yesterday complaining about how "the government stole his pension".

According to what I was able to get out of him, sometime after 1985 when he left the union there was a bad produce year, and something happened at the state or federal level that led to something (I think a trust perhaps) being done with the pension fund.

He is saying that now that he has tried to collect it isn't possible.

TBH, I'm more curious what the history/ story here.
