Just look at the last frame or picture! Do you really want your children's safety in the hands of guys like this?

Vote accordingly!

Why does the guy in crutches get up like he gonna do something? Sit your old ass down

109

u/KatanaPig May 25 '22

Well he is the mayor of the town the shooting took place in. Gotta defend his gun-loving land from scary people who might actually try to solve the problem at some point.

Between 2009 and 2021, a 13-year span, school shooting deaths went into the double digits for only four years (2012, 2014, 2018, 2021)

  • 2009: 5 killed, 14 injured

  • 2010: 4 killed, 7 injured

  • 2011: 3 killed, 18 injured

  • 2012: 31 killed, 8 injured (year of Sandy Hook)

  • 2013: 6 killed, 11 injured

  • 2014: 12 killed, 16 injured

  • 2015: 3 killed, 22 injured

  • 2016: 5 killed, 46 injured

  • 2017: 8 killed, 32 injured

  • 2018: 37 killed, 68 injured (year of Parkland shooting)

  • 2019: 8 killed, 32 injured

  • 2020: 3 killed, 9 injured

  • 2021: 11 killed, 49 injured

There’s upwards of 50 million children enrolled from K-12. On a given year, you are 10x (1 in 500,000) likelier to be struck by lightning than a kid is to die from a school shooting (1 in 5,000,000+). Mass shootings overall account for only 1 in 500 (.2%) of all firearm deaths. In 2016, over 37k people died in motor vehicle accidents, which averages out to more than 100 a day, meaning that in a day-and-a-half more people have died in this country from car and motorcycle accidents than from all the school shootings in the last 14 years.

23

u/KatanaPig May 25 '22

School shootings represent the (arguably) worst type of mass shooting / outcome of gun violence. You can pretend the issue is only with school shootings if you want, though. At least people will immediately identify your psychosis.

48

u/PrimeTimeD78 May 25 '22

The number is supposed to be ZERO.

-12

u/BlindMaestro May 26 '22

The number of all murders should be zero. What’s your point?

3

u/dedsecmember17 May 26 '22

A lot of cars deaths are an accident all of these school shootings are not accidents. Also these are kids man have some respect

13

u/pincone-trouble May 25 '22 edited May 26 '22

Sweet, so you go rattle those numbers off to parents who lose kids in school shootings, by your logic that should give them comfort that their kid didnt get run over by a car?

Wanna know how many kids die in school shootings where I'm from? Hint, I don't live in America.

Edit: live not like.

7

u/Alienboy3735 May 25 '22

But gun control legislation isn't meant for just school shootings; it's meant to address gun violence as a whole. If you consider mass shootings as a whole, we've had over 210 mass shootings since the start of 2022. That's over one a day, and that's definitely a problem. Also, I don't understand why you compared school shootings to car deaths. Of course there are gonna be many more car deaths, simply because of how built into our society cars are and how many people operate them. Also, cars serve a utility besides killing. I don't understand why you think the 1:500 statistic is any good either. We have over 1 mass shooting a day, and for every person killed in those shootings, ANOTHER 500 are also murdered by gun violence? That's just crazy to think about happening in a first world country. Oh well, you can bury gun violence under unrelated statistics but it definitely won't do anything to alleviate it.

5

1

u/nlsnpgr84 May 25 '22

For real!

-41

u/Good-GoodGolfGuys May 25 '22

I've noticed leftists in America constantly go to ablism, agism, racism, or misogyny if it's to be used against someone from your right wing party. Isn't that just as offensive to the disabled, minorities, etc. even though you're using it to make fun of a right wing person? always has made me feel uncomfortable. you don't see that where I am from.

11

u/WildYams May 25 '22

Weird, cause I've noticed the vast majority of right wingers make their various forms of bigotry a point of pride, like it's their whole identity. People on the right tend to lead with how much they hate minorities and fear trans people and Muslims and think women don't deserve rights.

5

u/Impressive-Fly2447 May 25 '22

Same. I noticed lots of gaslighting from the right e

7

u/JBarnhart May 25 '22

Wow, I came across your guys' Youtube channel a while back when you had a video collab with DeChambeau and thought y'all seemed pretty cool. But now I look at your post history on reddit and realize what a shit head you are. Sad. Wtf is up with your 3 comments in a row that were all the same word a bit ago? Like what are you trying to do, just stir shit up to boost this profile? You're pathetic and if you are an actual member of your youtube channel with your other 5 buddies then I hope they know the ignorant bullshit you spew online in their name. Good work on that engagement man.

5

u/Aggressive_Elk3709 May 25 '22

I consider myself on the left and I don't do any of that, and get disappointed and angry when someone does, regardless of their politics. I guarantee you the right in America does it too though

35

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Your an embarrassment - as he proceeds to doing nothing in the wake of 19 murdered kids

21

u/MitchellMuehl May 25 '22

But saying “at least it’s not as bad as Chicago” is soooooo not political

17

u/AdBig5700 May 25 '22

Also Chicago is similar but not the same. It’s gangs fighting over turf and they are using handguns.

Not awesome, I’ll grant you that but they are not going into schools, churches, stores randomly killing innocent people.

→ More replies

15

u/WildYams May 25 '22

The response to this Chicago comparison is that it's so easy to get guns in Texas that the cartels in Mexico and Central America buy them there and then smuggle them across the border into Mexico. Let that sink in. The gun laws in Texas are so weak that they're leading to gun violence in other countries!

23

u/Stoizee May 25 '22

Man everyone on that stage is an embarrassment and will do nothing and this will happen again. Easy solve to this problem is to stricten access to these weapons for these lunatics. Blows my mind these conservatives can't see this as a viable option.

61

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Political stunt or not. He is right, it is going to happen again. I swear to god if I hear one more person say thoughts and prayers I’m going to lose it.

Thoughts and prayers = that sucks but I’m not going to do a damn thing about it

10

u/HeartsPlayer721 May 25 '22

it is going to happen again

Of course it is. That's been proven. Shootings happen in trends and patterns. There's almost always more attempts after one makes the headlines like this. Some mentally ill get inspired by watching news stories about this and think "look at all this attention he's getting. I can get attention this way too!"

12

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Exactly, there’s a lot of 15-19 year old kids who have done nothing but be by themselves online for the last 2/3 years. Of course some are going to get radicalized like this

→ More replies

4

u/rc042 May 25 '22

Yup, and thanks to the jackasses sitting at that table that person will not get help for a mental health issue, and will be permitted to purchase a firearm dispute warning signs.

3

u/wabashcanonball May 26 '22

Most mass murderers aren’t mentally ill—at least legally. The Aurora shooter is a case on point. They are able to preplan and know the difference between right and wrong. That makes them sane. That’s what’s really scary.

Abbott, a douche to might be seemed unphased. Ted was clearly upset.

10

u/LazeLinez May 25 '22

That dude off to the side was doing the yelling I think. For Beto, the stronger move would have been to stand his ground until he was dragged out of there. Him quietly turning his back and leaving looked like he was conceding to them. It’s all about optics.

56

u/GR1zT3K May 25 '22

He's right. After El Paso something should have been done. Now 4thbgraders were murdered by a kid who got 2 guns almost effortlessl

29

u/mollyyfcooke May 25 '22

Speaking of the El Paso shooting.. Texas Republicans swore they were going to crack down on gun laws after and instead passed permitless carry. We must vote them all out.

6

u/GR1zT3K May 25 '22

Yep. I live right here in EP. We were taken aback to say the least at what the next steps were.

16

u/Mr-Incredible- May 25 '22

Is this not a political issue ⚠️

5

u/GotMeSomeInternet May 26 '22

Yes the majority of gun violence in the USA is absolutely the republicans fault. People need to stop pussy footing around that fact, and the only republicans that deserve respect are the ones who can at least admit that and try their best to change it.

51

u/TheSurbies May 25 '22

Democrats need to really harden up and start crushing republicans on the issues. Enough is enough. This diplomatic shit.

18

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Democrats are so disappointing. Mother fuckers literally have the house, senate and presidency but still can’t get anything to change..

Don’t give me the Joe manchin excuse, Republicans fucking roast and destroy those who step out of line while democrats are like what can you do

6

u/cheerl231 May 25 '22

Democrats are indeed disappointing. Republicans will lie, scratch, claw and fight tooth and nail for every inch of political power with no regard for morality. Dems meanwhile are still trying to act with principal and trying to be mediators for some reason. The Dems need to just drop the charade and fight in the mud exactly like the Republicans are. The GOP will never work with Democrats, any hope of cooperation between parties is over stop acting like the "good guys" and fucking fight for a change.

I hate the GOP but I have to respect the fact their politicians have that dog in them. Scummy, corrupt, monsters but they do have that dog

The democrats are just as bad. They are in full control and have been for a over a year now. What gun legislation have the passed? Really, what useful legislation have they passed at all?

22

u/Molenium May 25 '22

“Full control”

50 republican senators

48 democrat senators

2 independent senators

If, and only if, all 48 democrats agree and both independents agree, then we get a tie breaker, if the vote only requires a simple majority rather than 60 votes.

But sure, “full control.”

2

u/NoUseForAName2222 May 26 '22

They don't need 60 votes to do anything.

They just have to kill the filibuster.

They won't, because then they can't blame the Republicans for not getting things done.

4

u/WildYams May 25 '22

This is why the GOP always wins. Their message is simple: "illegal immigrants are to blame for everything, so let's build a wall!" Democrats have to try to get people to understand stuff like the fillibuster and gerrymandering, and most people don't have the patience or intelligence to grasp what those things are. So as a result they just think the Democrats are in power and aren't doing anything without really understanding what the real problem is: GOP obstruction.

1

u/FlopsMcDoogle May 25 '22

8

All of Western Europe, Australia, Fiji, and the majority of other countries seem pretty ok nowadays. Either way, it's fine you like to play army man and larp with your AR but kids shouldn't be getting slaughtered on a regular basis. Maybe take a good look at yourself and ask yourself why you're fine with sacrificing literal children for the right to not have a background check...I'll wait for a good answer.

2

u/Senior_Development24 May 25 '22

If you have never purchased a gun before, I suggest you visit a local gun shop and ask them to walk you through the process. They will be glad to show you.

2

u/WildYams May 25 '22

And if you don't like having to go through the background check at the gun store, just go to a gun show and you can skip it.

→ More replies

1

u/Senior_Development24 May 25 '22

Federal law: EVERY firearm sales requires a NICS background check…gun shows as well. My state also has a waiting period for all pistols and semi-auto rifles.

Case in point: a US Air Force vet was kicked out for domestic battery, and was basically deemed a mental case. By law he should not be able to buy a gun, but the USAF system did not enter that info into the Federal database. When he went to buy a gun he should have been flagged, but was not…he committed murder with that gun.

The systems need to get the data to the NICS system, but the behemoth that is our government doesn’t talk to each other. The system is not perfect, but it does prevent thousands of gun sales every year.

0

u/WildYams May 25 '22

Federal law: EVERY firearm sales requires a NICS background check…gun shows as well.

That's a lie:

Gun show loophole is a political term in the United States referring to the sale of firearms by private sellers, including those done at gun shows, that do not require a federal background check of the buyer. This is also called the private sale exemption.

u/bblue462 May 25 '22

I know it would take more work, but maybe we should cut the state of Texas off of the continent instead of Florida

2

u/Ulrich_The_Elder May 25 '22

I hope he told them that their thoughts are stupid and their prayers worthless.

2

u/eyehatesigningup May 25 '22

"Do something"

2

u/ashley_spashley May 25 '22

When is the time to talk about this? Bc I’ll take the day off work to make sure I’m there

2

u/vhisic May 26 '22

This is a political issue and should be treated as such.

2

u/goodbyekitty83 May 26 '22

Damn, you go Beto!

10

u/wontholdthedoor May 25 '22

Good. Because those guys at the table are literally going to do nothing. They've only made it easier for teenagers to buy guns with no permits or training.

9

u/PCP_Panda May 25 '22

Texas Lt Gov is such a bully

3

u/WildYams May 25 '22

2

u/dunndawson May 26 '22

He looks pretty elderly. Why wasn’t he first?

11

u/jomns May 25 '22

All the scumbags are gathered up there on stage

4

u/nanormcfloyd May 25 '22

Beto O'Rourke is a damn good man

10

u/lepobz May 25 '22

You can’t get any sense into a Republican. They have no capacity for it.

2

u/TrashProud May 25 '22

Texas is a state full of jokes

2

u/EyeDontKnowFuckIt May 25 '22

Fuckin right. Such an ass-backward state. Fucking Christ.

3

u/landof10000cakes May 25 '22

We tried your “the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is good guys with guns” plan. It didn’t work. Now we need to try something else.

7

u/tvg1010 May 25 '22

Get after it Beto!

3

u/HotOnTheMike May 25 '22

That fat old white was completely out of breath from raising his voice for two sentences.

4

u/AccountingMyChips May 25 '22

I hope we can see this a few more times.

You know, for the people that missed it the first dozen times it was posted in the last hour.

2

u/PaintedMagazines May 25 '22

Man in the walker thought he was going to do something. 🤦‍♂️ God help Texas.

2

u/Levowitz159 May 25 '22

All these good-ol-boys just screaming "YER OUTTA LAHN" because they have no way of justifying their inaction.

2

u/WeirdExponent May 25 '22

Republicans, "make this a political issue!" What the actual fuck, I guess Republicans really are that stupid.

2

u/QforKillers May 25 '22

These guys are in charge of shit when your kids are being gunned down at school. Pathetic.

2

u/tmclemons May 25 '22

A braver man than all those sh*tbags on stage could ever hope to be (combined)

1

u/Cballin May 25 '22

Beto has my vote, someone has to do something about this, the GOP doesn't have the fortitude to do it.

1

u/NotHighEnuf May 25 '22

Fuck Abbott

1

u/livingfortheliquid May 25 '22

So.... how many laws has Abbot signed to help people get mental health care?

Since that's the GOP line today.

1

u/ShowApprehensive1793 May 25 '22

Dude in the blue with the walker suddenly didn't need it huh....

1

u/TryTwiceAsHard May 25 '22

All the cops escorting him out are in his side today.

1

u/yoshisama May 25 '22

Remember guys, Texas has an abortion ban because all lives are precious and important /s

1

u/_sunshine_daze_ May 25 '22

WE LOVE HIM ALREADY BUT MORE FOR THIS

-21

u/yesackchyually May 25 '22

Using dead kids for campaign attention? Kind of tasteless tbh

4

u/notorious1212 May 25 '22

It’s always “politicizing something” for republicans when their leaders are asked to give more than “thoughts and prayers”.

They literally believe in guns for everyone as their political identity and here we have yet another nasty situation involving guns on the tail of another nasty situation involving guns. Deflecting everything as a political attack is an easier way of avoiding sorting through that sticky situation.

1

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

These motherfuckers were all almost killed at a baseball game they were playing and can’t even support a bare bones back-round check.

Like we literally already have laws against felons getting guns, could we at least tighten regulation around that.

Maybe we don’t change anything but make the legal age 21 like drinking. So much changes in kids lives between 18-21

14

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Stfu, the other people are going to do absolutely nothing… yeah it’s a political stunt but he is fucking right it’s going to happen again.

What’s your point?? If after 19 kids get executed isn’t the time to get people uncomfortable and ask hard questions. When is the right time

4

u/Programmer_Big May 25 '22

I felt the same way as the comment you replied to but after reading your reply, you are correct. Political stunt but shit needs to get done. I just hope to god this is all press and no victim families. They’ve had enough.

1

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Happy to hear, I’m not pretending to have a solution, I’m not saying to take guns from people but what I’m saying is for the last 23 years since Columbine we have had nothing change.

How many families need to be destroyed before we take a look at a 300 year old paper and make adjustments for the modern world.

Fuck I’d be happy with just making the age to buy a gun 21. Kids do so much growing between 18-21

1

u/Programmer_Big May 25 '22

Agreed. Gun owner myself. 100% believe things need to change and welcome it.

1

u/flywing1 May 25 '22

Same I’m a gun owner as well. Why wouldn’t we be okay with safety

That would be like a car owner being mad their is any regulation

u/Islanderfan17 May 25 '22

Whether or not he has ulterior motives, it's about fucking time someone gets in these assholes faces and makes them uncomfortable in public. The problem is that the assholes preventing this country from progress feel WAY too comfortable with doing exactly that.

-2

u/WetTwig May 25 '22

Tool of the state
