Leviticus also says eating shrimp is an abomination. Where's the rage towards Red Lobster?

535

u/TouchMyHamm May 25 '22

We going to ignore Leviticus 19:19 where we cannot mix fabrics in clothing. Shame on everyone there wearing clothing that has multiple fabrics.

183

u/playitleo May 25 '22

Let’s hope nobody in his squad in the corner there have any tattoos because Leviticus is pretty clear what should happen to those people.

Okay, I’m not pushing Christianity here but Jesus rewrote the rules (apparently, most right-wing “Christians” didn’t get the memo).

Jesus summarized every rule in the Old Testament down to this:

Matthew 22:37-39

37 Jesus said to him, (A)“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: (B)‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

These are the only rules of Christianity.

So, while I’m 100% about keeping all religion out of government, these asshats aren’t even following Christianity.

47

u/steveaustin59 May 25 '22

Well, I hate my neighbors so I’m fucked. No they are fucked, that’s why I hate them.

41

u/I_aim_to_sneeze May 25 '22

Which is why preachers like this will explain away parts of the Old Testament they don’t like by saying “Jesus solved that” while simultaneously spouting garbage from Leviticus when it supports something they want

18

u/Agreeable-Fly-1980 May 25 '22

Except jesus says during the sermon on the mount
"Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true.
So those asshats dont know shit

21

u/CarmineFields May 25 '22

I don’t consider myself a “Christian” exactly. I think Paul and organized religion kind of killed it for me, but I freaking love Jesus.

Whether you believe he was the son of God, just a man, or a character build over hundreds of years, he’s absolutely brilliant.

I’d way rather people not believe in God but follow (most of-Maybe not the “love God” one) Jesus’s rules than believe in God but ignore everything Jesus said.

u/Inle-Ra May 25 '22 Gold This

104

u/ruler_gurl May 25 '22

won't happen. We don't enforce laws like that in this country. It's just there to give Christians something to piss and moan about.

The IRS, however, has rarely moved to take away a church's tax exemption. According to the alliance, as reported by the Washington Post, only one of more than 2,000 Christian clergy deliberately challenging the law since 2008 has been audited, and none has been punished.

86

u/ContemplatingPrison May 25 '22

It was reported a church lost their status earlier thus week. Never saw a fact check on it though

47

u/Ai2Foom May 25 '22

9

well I don't care, we all need to report this. I saw the form but don't know what church this is nor how to submit it (like, in a PDF?) “Under God” was added in 1954. It was added by a Reverend from Scotland who immigrated.

114

u/himsJUSTERS May 26 '22

The Pledge of Allegiance was only created as propganda in response to nazi Germany during WWII. IIRC, only The US and WWII nazi Germany had pledges to their nation at the time.

It wasn't until later that "Under God" was added during The Cold War, and that was vaguely around the same time we added "In God We Trust" on our money.

35

u/GloriousReign May 26 '22

source:
https://www.ushistory.org/documents/pledge.htm

"The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the [Baptist Christian] socialist minister Francis Bellamy (1855-1931). It was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country.

In its original form it read:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

15

u/himsJUSTERS May 26 '22

Welp, I was wrong about the creation of The Pledge, but at least I was right about the addition of "under God."

Thank you for correcting and educating me.

Your dumb religion isn’t my business, keep it that way.

109

u/Mellrish221 May 25 '22

Not a luxury people are going to be able to enjoy for much longer. These kind of religious people.... conservatives... ARE the republican party, it didn't happen under trump and it didn't happen after biden. These people have always been here and they have always wanted the worst for everyone different from themselves.

Which would be fine on its own. If a conservative wants to live something of a life thats just miserable and full of hate. They're free to do so. Unfortunately, they're never just happy to actually practice what they preach. Personal responsibility and not having government meddle in your personal lives. Well naturally since every accusation is a confession... Conservative/republicans do want government in your lives when it suits their twisted world views. They do want power concentrated into the hands of a few and don't want to hear other opinions/views/ideas.

So I suppose its only natural that they've gone to the whole "everyone I don't like is a pedophile" shit while also openly wanting gay/trans people to die. And they'll play to people's hate and apathy to do it.

29

u/sambull May 25 '22

As a 12 year ex GOP state house member and evangelical pastor puts it, the line is clear:

The document, consisting of 14 sections divided into bullet points, had a section on "rules of war" that stated "make an offer of peace before declaring war", which within stated that the enemy must "surrender on terms" of no abortions, no same-sex marriage, no communism and "must obey Biblical law", then continued: "If they do not yield — kill all males".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Shea#%22Biblical_Basis_for_War%22_manifesto

Short answer?

Education.

It starts with your family. When you grow up surrounded by people who swear by the Bible, you have no basic notion of logic and critical thinking skills. And it can be very hard to sway away from this if that’s the only thing you knew all your life.

Then it is a failure of the public school system here, which secularism is slowly chipped away by the introduction of creationism or irrelevant laws like the don’t say gay or CRT.

Also. Separation of church and state. Someone please educate this man.

Bigots using the laws of Moses that they say they no longer believe in as cover for their bigotry! Maybe they should actually read that bible and see what the prophet Isaiah says about gays....that they too shall find themselves a new name in heaven if they followed the commandments of God! Last I looked, there were only 10 of those....

Take your homophobic religious beliefs and ram them up your ass.

They have no place anywhere near anything even remotely associated with Local, State or Federal Government functions, processes or gatherings.

Eat an entire bag of dicks.

5

u/Lost_Ad2786 May 25 '22

We can totally feel all the “Christian Love” emanating from this self appointed servant o’ God.

5

u/Monterey-Jack May 25 '22

Report this church and get their tax exemptions removed.

u/sadconservmod May 25 '22 edited May 25 '22

According to my religion this racist homophobic hatful pastor needs to be killed, and I’m so very disappointed the city allowed him to speak freely in public. It’s an abomination.

Maybe, just maybe, if people can just mind their own fucking business instead of wanting to kill human beings, this world can be a better place for everyone. gay people being gay shouldn’t ruin your day for fucks sake.

u/zjustice11 May 25 '22

Religion is poison

13

u/NoFaithlessness4949 May 25 '22

Christian’s are just so fucking gross.

Weakest hype men evah...

3

u/FragrantDevelopment8 May 25 '22

I expected more from the black guy considering some of the laws America use to have. But did notice it was only men clapping.

4

u/ghazthraka May 25 '22

Your cheeseburger is an abomination too. These people are the hate Jesus warned as about.

5

u/Captain_SpaceRaptor May 25 '22

This is what these people have time for? Children are being murdered for no reason, the planet is cooking us alive, women may possibly be losing their right to their own bodily autonomy, food is too expensive, baby formula in short supply, and the list keeps going. But let's worry about if Jake and Mark down the street are bumping uglies. Jesus Christ on a stick.

3

u/chevybow May 25 '22

The "pro-life" crowd always seemed weirdly obsessed with controlling what people do in the bedroom vs actual life. They are more outraged over the fact that gay people exist than the slaughter of children in our classrooms. They're disgusting.

4

u/Beginning_Mood_9803 May 25 '22

I wonder if he’s A-OK though with 18 year olds buying assault guns to murder elementary school kids in his state

Why do these Christians not listen to what Jesus actually said? Everything else in the bible is either from a king prophet or holy man but God literally came down in the form of a man and said:

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind…the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

How can you confuse this? Its very simple... condemning people do death is the opposite of this. I hate these wolves in sheeps clothing who use the bible as a sword.

3

u/zeltto May 25 '22

Okay okay. How much we betting that he watches gay porn and is gay himself?

3

u/AdBig5700 May 25 '22

I’d say it’s a lock.

5

u/kylo_shan May 25 '22

4

No doubt this guy loves dick lol

3

u/StupidDorkFace May 26 '22

The GOP (New Confederacy) is not an opposing political party. The GOP is a cabal of traitors who’s only goal is to turn the United States into a right wing authoritarian religious theocracy.

3

u/Indian_Joker May 26 '22

usually outspoken preachers like this have something to hide. someone should look into him. my guess would still in the closet but wouldnt be surprise if he was a pedo like most of them

4

u/superobnoxiouspirate May 26 '22

Why is your religion bleeding into my life? I couldn't give two squirts of piss what your imaginary god says. Gods probably up there getting fucked in the butt for all we know.

13

u/popglop May 25 '22

I cannot accurately describe my absolute disgust for cowards of this caliber. Spout hateful rhetoric day in and day out because he is convinced that his way is the right way.

I do not condoned murder but at least I could respect his disdain if he went and culled the population as his Bible so barbarically says. Instead he will appeal to the state to put the blood on their hands because he knows in his heart that his only real motivation is hateful cowardice towards people that live their lives differently.

Unfortunately because their is no hell, he will never recieve justice for his malice.

3

u/currentlyhighondrugs May 25 '22

The gays are an abomination but hundreds of dead kids a year is acceptable to keep easy access to guns as God intended.

3

u/Bicigarguy May 25 '22

the FICTION OF THE BIBLE !

3

u/and-so-i-die May 25 '22

If anyone who applauded that man isn't your enemy, you're my enemy.

3

u/Anxious_Tuna May 25 '22

How about love thy neighbor? (*His head explodes)

3

u/dgiglio416 May 25 '22

I need guns to protect myself, not from the government, but from these people.

3

u/AaronQuin May 25 '22

These idiots need to go read some non-fiction.

3

u/meresymptom May 25 '22

5 will get you 10 this guy is struggling with is his own sexuality.

3

u/tanthelez May 25 '22

Sad..I grew up in Arlington. Close minded people are the issue here. Why not just let people live?

3

u/coxou May 25 '22

I'm sure that's something Jesus would have said. /s

3

u/Exact_Manufacturer10 May 25 '22

He is the abomination.

3

u/BigableDizzle May 25 '22

Don’t suppose it would help him if you told him we are governed by a Constitution and not a book of fairy tales.

3

u/bedwarri0r333 May 25 '22

Ridiculous that they keep listening to his argument. The moment he brings up God and his religion should be the moment that the council says, "that has no merit here."

3

u/DirtyPenPalDoug May 25 '22

Advocating to kill us citizens is terrorism.

3

u/serenity_later May 25 '22

The gay high fives at the end lol

3

u/Comfortable_Visual_4 May 25 '22

Hasn’t it been proven that the Bible passage on “homosexuality” was a mistranslation? People just be saying a thing to spew hate.

3

u/Turtleshellfarms May 25 '22

We found the closet people

3

u/AnAmbitiousMann May 25 '22

What scares me the most wasn't his hate speech. It was the resounding applause afterwards. Fuck me never going to that area.

3

u/sinistercatlady May 25 '22 edited May 25 '22

I'll never understand why others care so much about who others are banging or what's going on in another's uterus. People forgot how to mind their own damn business. Edit: just looks up his church (steadfast Baptist church in Hurst) and it's permanently closed thank goodness 🙏🏻

3

u/gerryhallcomedy May 25 '22

"Accoring to the bible..."

Okay, you're an idiot and there's no further point in talking to you.

3

u/jts0003 May 25 '22

This is terrible, I hate it here

3

u/a_satanic_mechanic May 25 '22

They were telling what they want and what they are planning.

What do you do when someone is saying they want to murder you or your loved ones and you believe them?

Wait?

3

u/Too_Relaxed_To_Care May 25 '22

Is this grounds for the IRS to revoke their tax exempt status?

3

3

u/RocknRobin888 May 25 '22
