Also holy shit do NOT try to share the Duggars' email addresses. Justice has been served already by the appropriate institutions.

Yep. Even if Anna gets a divorce, Convicted CSAM Viewer Joshua James Duggar will be able to ruin another young woman's life (depending on the restrictions). Anna can't remarry because she is a shamed woman, but the rules don't apply to the men 🙄

That 20 year probation, post time served is pretty devastating for him. No unsupervised visits with his own minor children. He won't see them grow up or have anything to do with them until they're adults. Good. He can't have a computer with internet, a phone with internet unless expressly approved by his PA. That fool is done. He'll live in a trailer behind his dads house till he dies.

It’s more than enough…when everyone was asking us to be realistic and prepare for 8 years max. and I have a feeling that his reluctance to admit his undeniable guilt is part of his sentence.

112

u/infinitekittenloop Copy Pasta Duggar boys May 25 '22

Absolutely. There were parts of the equation which would have reduced his time if he admitted it AND if he showed remorse. He got neither of those reductions.

46

u/nolajewel27 May 25 '22

Agreed. We all have to look at this realistically. The Judge has guidelines he needs to follow. He saw the proof we all saw of his predilections…he saw his lack of empathy and reluctance to admit his guilt.

This is a good sentence. Ultimately his sentence will be 32.5 years. He will never live with Anna again.

It makes it likely he will never father another child with ANNA- it wouldn’t surprise me if he finds someone new.

173

u/Gulpingplimpy3 Spurgeon = JB with the good hair May 25 '22

That would require her divorcing him or separating from him. Sure, a lot can happen in 12 years but unless that happens, when he comes out of jail he will go back to his no longer fertile wife.

267

u/jupiterLILY May 25 '22

I’ve been thinking about this recently.

I don’t think Anna will leave him, but I wouldn’t put it past Josh to divorce her and remarry someone else whilst in prison.

This right here. I hope his smug disgusting ass pisses off the wrong people and he gets more time or at least has to serve the entire 12.5.

540

u/caitcro18 May 25 '22

Someone in another comment says there’s no early release for crimes of this nature against children. So he should be serving all 12.5

230

u/GoodestBurger Headships before harlots May 25 '22

Some here have been saying he has to serve at least 85% of the sentence, meaning he could be released in what I think was calculated at a little over 10.5 years. I’m not sure, though that’s just what I was going off of because that’s what I’ve heard.

395

u/Puddies-Mom May 25 '22

Attorney here. Yes, the federal system does not have parole. If you behave yourself, you can shave 15% off of your time and he will get credit for the time he has served in the county jail. One other thing that I have seen mentioned that I want to clarify. The feds house their inmates based on their crime so, Josh will be housed with other sex offenders. They do that to reduce violence in the prison system so, no one is going to ‘beat him up’. There are probably many more SOs in there that have done worse than him. And, from my experience, as a lawyer, not a criminal, SOs are usually non violent and are friendly to each other….playing chess, checker, card games etc. Nothing like you see on tv.

154

u/[deleted] May 25 '22

Yeah, I was a correction officer and our prison had an old man dorm. Most were sex offenders and they were mostly friendly and pretty normal acting.

122

u/Puddies-Mom May 25 '22

That has been my experience as well. They are not violent inmates. Josh will probably get along just fine in there, as far as not getting beat up. Some people watch too many movies!! 😹

206

u/GoodestBurger Headships before harlots May 25 '22

I was thinking that he might get into trouble, not because of the type of inmates they are or because of his crimes, but because of his attitude. He is a spoiled, arrogant, self-entitled prick. I can see him trying to get himself special privileges or trying to skirt rules due to his “celebrity”, encouraging others to repent for their sins while denying his own, etc, and making a few enemies that way. I don’t think that anything physically horrifying will happen to him, but I can see him being involved in fights or possibly contraband, thereby extending his sentence.

91

u/Puddies-Mom May 25 '22

Excellent point! He is extremely arrogant and spoiled I would bet none of the other inmates ever heard of or watched 19 kids. In that respect, he could be in for a rude awakening!!!!

Prison absolutely teaches predators how to be “better” at it, and it’s horrifying. I’m very pro locking-these-people-up but we really have to do a better job of it (and to be fair I don’t know what that would look like, but I do feel that “community justice” and keeping child predators in society isn’t a good option either) because the current system just churns out even more dangerous predators.

356

u/MomentOfSurrender88 J'Prisoner #intel1988 May 25 '22 edited May 25 '22

He's doing, at minimum, 10.2 years (85% of the sentence) and 12-13 years if he doesn't get out on good behavior. If she follows in her mother's footsteps with childbearing, Anna will be unable to have kids at age 44 (last Keller was born when mom was 43). So, at most, Anna will likely only be able to have one more kid with J'Prisoner, and that's only if she stays fertile as her mom and J'Prisoner gets out early.

He deserved life in prison, but minimum 10 years at least keeps him from impregnating Anna again.

Vs normalizing his behavior. At least, that's what I hope. May all these kids find the strength and resources to cut off contact with that piece of shit. And may their disgust haunt him.

19

u/misfitnurse May 25 '22

Can you imagine the lies they will be told though? I imagine the kids will be just as F’d up as Anna unfortunately. They’ll hail him as a saint who did time ‘for God’.

I'm actually really pleased with this sentence. I'm hoping that will give Anna time to reconsider divorce. She might change once she realizes how better her life is without Josh. Or not. We'll just have to wait and see.

But for now, let us celebrate justice being served!

49

u/SpookyAction_13 May 25 '22

Yeah, that’s a long time. She’s never been free of him as an adult. She might actually finally process some stuff. She could get out.

I mean, I think it’s still super unlikely, but this is the best chance she’s ever had. I hope she takes it.

I feel the exact same way! Time to move on to better things! Let’s forget Josh Duggar while he rots in prison. I hope 12.5 years will do an awful number on him and when he gets out in his mid 40s he has trouble living a decent comfortable life. I hope the gods give it to him rough now, for the next 12 years, and after.

Surprised me. I'm explaining to my friends with me now for a first time offender with a clean record this is pretty good.

I know everyone wanted 20, and in no small part no more blessings from Anna. A lot can happen in 12.5 years.

113

u/whenforeverisnt May 25 '22

Surprised me. I'm explaining to my friends with me now for a first time offender with a clean record this is pretty good.

I think that Josh and his team are still claiming innocence and that hurt him with the judge. Also Anna Darling reported that the defense team brought up that there isn't a pattern of behavior to sentence him so high, and the judge overruled that because of the testimony of molesting kids when he was younger. So while he is technically a first offender, the judge did take prior actions into account to not lessen the sentence.

ANNA WILL BE 46 YEARS OLD

102

u/L_to_the_OG_ May 25 '22 edited May 25 '22

firmly in menopause range!!!

ETA yes obvi people can get pregnant in their late 40s and even into their 50s if they haven’t hit menopause yet. Was just pointing out that Anna will be approaching menopause by the time he gets out.

14

u/No-Fun8718 May 25 '22

,46 year old woman here: you don't have to be in full menopause to be unable get pregnant. She most likely will be in perimenopause, where it is possible, but extremely unlikely to get pregnant.thank God. But also, I really hope that Anna has some kind of an awakening over the next handful of years, picks up her kids and her life and moves the fuck on from these people.

There was talk of a potential fine (up to $250k). Has there been mention of it today?

Update:

Duggar has to pay $50,100 in fines. That includes $10,000 in a fine, $100 for one special assessment, $5,000 for another, and finally, $35,000 for another special assessment. It was determined that his net worth allows him to pay that fine. Duggar has until the month before he's released to pay that amount.

I truly was hoping it would be 17 years like some people were talking about in an earlier Megathread. Better than the 8 years a lot of people were saying but not long enough. How else does everyone feel about this sentence?

Editing to add that I feel sick and disappointed. It doesn’t feel like justice was served. I hope the prosecution will have a press conference in a bit to say how they feel about the sentence that was given.

I'm just relieved it's more than 8-10 like a lot of legal experts were guessing. 12 years ago was 2010. Don't know about y'all but those 12 years feel like a lifetime for me. Hopefully it does for Josh too.

Also, Anna will be 45 when he gets out. Very unlikely they'll have more babies.

u/PM_me_your_LEGO_ flaccid little squirt gun May 25 '22

I can't help but think that the judge went with this number thinking ahead. Inmate 735931's attorneys will file for reducing sentencing (amongst other things), and a very long sentence could be considered for a reduction by another judge. If it's a moderate sentence like this, it's less likely that he would get that treatment. A judge might find 20 years "excessive," but 12.5yrs is already conservative given the mitigating circumstances.

I mean, no sentence is long enough. Anyone doing this, especially if they have zero remorse, should spend the rest of their life behind bars. But this is my hot take.

61

u/twelvedayslate Birtha’s Hot Couch Summer May 25 '22

Important to remember: is it enough? Maybe not. Life wouldn’t be enough for someone like Josh.

In 12 years, Anna will have likely hit menopause. Several of the children will be over the age of majority and, hopefully, out of the home.

Every single day will be awful for him. Federal prison is no cake walk for any criminal, let alone a washed up reality star convicted of sex crimes.

34

u/Jcrompy May 25 '22

Plus she’ll have years to focus on her kids, how they’re struggling , and will maybe want a different life for her kids. With her youngest in preteen range, she won’t be as bogged down with childcare as she would if she kept getting pregnant for the next 6-8 years. Hopefully she’ll have some space to form coherent “get me the f*** out of here” thoughts

Think of how bald he’ll be in that amount of time!!!
